Mixed feelings- Glad I read it. Mad I finished it. Book 1 was ok enough to read book 2. You could technically stop reading there and be ok bc book 3 has a cliffhanger. By book 3, I was really #teamransomandbilly. Book 4 was a friggin' gut punch from which I will NEVER recover. Book 4 is bittersweet. It is what I call an HEA w/ hell on the way. Be forewarned.

Well, I was warned that this is a multi-layered series, but this book has more layers than I expected. When I started reading, I was thinking this was going to be a 5-star book but by the time I was done I had eliminated 2 stars.

I loved the start of Ransom and Billy's journey in the first 3 books. Their passionate love, total loyalty and dedication for each other along with all the drama made this a great read. The author did a good job introducing new characters and intertwining the storyline of these characters with Ransom and Billy's. There was so much love between them but unfortunately there was also so much darkness, betrayal and violence around them. We weren't sure if their relationship would survive but it did because they are both fighters who are not afraid to get a little blood on their fists.

In this book, there was too much wasted dialogue that, I feel, should have been edited out. In the last few chapters, instead of building-up for a HEA, we have to read about how Marcus is going to teach Nya to drive, about Nya's relationship with her parents, about Nick's anguish, about Angela and Ken, Claudia and Marcus, about a new set design and everyone and everything else we don't care about.....fast forward
Another reason for the 3 stars. I can appreciate the separation between Ransom and Billy. It made sense. No one was at fault, and they went their separate ways with deep regret. BUT did it have to take so many years for them to get back together? Was it 20 years? Really?

In a nutshell. The author could have wrapped-up the storyline by book 3/part 1. There was enough drama to complete the development of the excellent path the author was already on to finish the series without a book 3/part 2. Instead, the author gave more attention to developing other characters and side stories which weakened the storyline with our main couple.

The ending was good, especially the surprise that introduced Creed. I did like the party in the epilogue that included all the people who were in their lives from the beginning.

Fibal installment of what could have been a near flawless series. Ruined by too little time with the principal characters. Very disappointing.
