About this audiobook

How will she choose, knowing all she must sacrifice?

Libby has been given a powerful gift: to live one life in 1774 Colonial Williamsburg and the other in 1914 Gilded Age New York City. When she falls asleep in one life, she wakes up in the other. While she’s the same person at her core in both times, she’s leading two vastly different lives.

In Colonial Williamsburg, Libby is a public printer for the House of Burgesses and the Royal Governor, trying to provide for her family and support the Patriot cause. The man she loves, Henry Montgomery, has his own secrets. As the revolution draws near, both their lives—and any hope of love—are put in jeopardy.

Libby’s life in 1914 New York is filled with wealth, drawing room conversations, and bachelors. But the only work she cares about—women’s suffrage—is discouraged, and her mother is intent on marrying her off to an English marquess.

The growing talk of war in Europe only complicates matters.

But Libby knows she’s not destined to live two lives forever. On her twenty-first birthday, she must choose one path and forfeit the other—but how can she choose when she has so much to lose in each life?

Slow the first half but picked up and the end was so good! Narrator was ok. Christian themes but not preachy or over done.

What a fabulous story! When things didn't work out like the protagonist planned, God made them even better.

I love a good time travel adventure, make it historical and it's even better. This was a great book. Not so heavy I couldn't do house work while I listened but very interesting. I really, really want to see this story made into a series. There's so many places it can go. The narrator did a great job. Thank you author, Gabrielle Meyer, narrator, Rachel Butchan, and Scribd!

I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a very unusual storyline and the dual timelines/double lifetimes was an interesting and unique twist. The story did include quite a bit of religious sentiment that some might consider “preachy”, but I thought it contained some important messages about trusting God and His timing, although this was a very unique way of going about getting g that message across. Although the scenario in those book is impossible, they way the story was told actually made it seem plausible. I liked the protagonist Libby, and enjoyed the bits of history mingled in to the book. I thought the audio was well done, and hope to read the sequel. Very clean with some romance thrown in.

The only thing that bothered me about the book was the repetitive use of the word “tricorn” to describe the 3 cornered hat worn in colonial times. The use of “yays” and “nays” was unusual, although appropriate for the time period.

This was a sweet, moving, historical romance with a dash of time-travel in the mix that had me hooked until I turned the final page. This is book 1 in the Timeless Series. At the heart of the story is Libby who is turning 21 in about a year. Libby is a time-crosser which means she lives simultaneously in two different time periods. She wakes up 1774 Colonial Williamsburg one day and then goes to sleep at night and wakes up in 1914 as a socialite in New York City the next day. She awakens daily alternating between these two time periods, which are so different from one another. In one time frame she is wealthy but unhappy, in the other time period her family struggles financially but she’s happy. On her 21st birthday, which is 13 months away, Libby needs to pick a time period to stay in permanently. This means she will have to leave one of her lives behind, including her friends and family in that life.I can’t really say too much without including spoilers but the American history nerd in me loved this book through and through. The author does a fantastic job at doing her research in setting the story up in Williamsburg Virginia 1774 on the cusp of the American Revolution and in New York City and England 1914 as WW1 is about to begin. The 1914 and the 1774 settings both jump to life within these pages. Libby is pretty much experiencing two pivotal wars in history at the same time. This is also Christian fiction and the main theme in this story is that what is meant to be, will be. Libby’s faith gets her through the tough times and on looking back in the end, she sees why things turned out the way they did. As Libby’s story comes to a conclusion, the ending also leaves it wide open for the next book in this series.I loved the heartfelt way the story turned out and how the author wrapped it all up and gave us a nice surprise at the end.I recommend When the Day Comes if you enjoy well researched historical fiction with faith, romance, time travel and family drama in the mix. I really enjoyed this one.Special thanks to Bethany House publishing for my review copy.

I think Gabrielle Meyer did a marvelous job in the writing of this book. I love historical fiction, but time-travel is hard to do right. Fortunately, Ms. Meyer makes it look incredibly easy. I loved the idea of going to bed in 1774 and waking up in 1914. Both eras are very intriguing and there is so much happening. Libby is this strong woman who is living a double life. I can only imagine how exciting and overwhelming that must feel from time to time!Libby wants to do the right thing and marry the right man for the right reasons. I admired her undying love for Henry, a Patriot working for the cause, and her disdain for her 1914 mother who is greedy and manipulative. I felt sorry for her when she was forced to marry a man she didn't love, thanks to that plotting mother of hers.I also appreciated the running theme in the book that God is always in control and He knows what is best for us. We really have no business questioning God. We can only do the best we can with what we know.I hope that Gabrielle Meyer will write more books like this because I already want to read another one. This is the kind of book that I would love to add to my personal library.

Wow! This book was amazing and it held me in its grip from the beginning to the end and left me longing for the second book. This was the most unique duel timeline book I’ve read. The characters came alive in my mind and the premise of the story, one person living two completely different lives in two time periods, was captivating. Libby lives two lives separated by 140 years and each has its beauty and ugliness. She learns about God’s sovereignty over all, no matter who, where or when, God is in control. It’s not a preachy book, it’s a beautiful book. If you like duel timeline books, then you must read it. If you’ve never read one, this one is great to start.I had a hard time putting this book down. Now I’m holding my breath until the second book comes out. I highly recommend this book.

This book!! I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did, but wow…I can’t wait until book #2 comes out, and I’m more than a little disappointed that I have to wait an entire year until I can satisfy my curiosity about what it contains. There’s so much to love in this story. Engaging history, an intriguing plot, a sweet romance, a rich faith element…it had it all. The part I think I loved the most, though, was the surprises this book gave me. Several times, I was SURE one thing would happen…and then, wham! something else would throw it all off again. And the characters—I related to their struggles at times in a way I’ve rarely done before. Every one was realistic, and I came to love each one in their own way. The history was spot-on, not overdone, but still rich enough that I felt like I’ve really come to know England in 1914 and Colonial Williamsburg in a way I’ve never known them before. And the faith element…let me say there were a few moments I almost had to fight tears with some of the things the characters were going through, and I LOVED the encouragement Libby’s mother gave her at her lowest points! In all, this was an excellent read. I’m counting down the days until book #2 comes out, because a year feels like way too long for this impatient reader.(Content warning: There is a case of marital rape in the story, but it is worded very vaguely. I’d recommend the book for ages 15 and up.)I was given a review copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion of it.

When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer is the first Timeless Book. I thought this historical novel was creative and well-written. It contained realistic characters and situations. Libby lives two different lives: one in 1774 and one in 1914. In one she is the managing editor of her deceased father’s newspaper. Libby and her mother work hard to provide a living for their family and pay off their father’s debt. Libby is in love with Henry Montgomery, but he is about to betrothed to the Royal Governor’s fourteen-year-old daughter. In 1914, her mother is determined to marry her off to a titled Englishman. When Libby turns twenty-one, she will need to decide which life she will live for the rest of her life. The story is told in alternating chapters (back and forth between 1774 and 1914). I can tell the author did her research for both time periods and locations. She captured the grandeur of London Society, the beginning of the Great War, and the fashions (especially the tight-fitting hobble skirt that ladies had trouble walking in). We get to experience Colonial Williamsburg on the brink of the Revolutionary War. I like the time travel concept (unique). When Libby goes to sleep in 1774, she awakens in 1914. She lives both lives simultaneously. I enjoyed reading both time periods with their vivid descriptions. The author managed to strike a balance between too little and too much detail. The faith elements are prominent and beautifully incorporated into the story. We see the importance of faith and relying on God. When the Day Comes is a fascinating and emotional split time novel. I loved the ending and appreciated the epilogue that gives us a hint of who will be featured in the next Timeless Book. When the Day Comes is a captivating tale with patriot printers, a bevy of balls, a merciless mother, a raging war, a sympathetic mum, an approaching revolution, and a critical choice.

We couldn’t change history, but we did know how it played out.Libby Conant, like her mother before her, along with generations before them, had a unique birthmark that set them aside from those around them. They were known as time-crossers — at least among themselves. After all, who would believe that you could fall asleep in one year, wake up in another and not have missed any time? Perhaps the hardest part was the fact that you knew some of how history would unfold when you returned to the earlier time but you couldn’t stop those things from happening. The author has done a fabulous job of taking us between 1774 and the beginning of the revolutionary war and 1914 with the beginning of WWI. The well developed characters give us a look into what it must have been like back in 1774 when the colonists were tired of more and more restrictions coming from Britain. One has to wonder which side we would have joined… Learning to take what was given and make the best of it, was a lesson that was hard to learn. This ARC of the first Timeless book was received through Baker Publishing Group, Bethany House Publishers and NetGalley. These thoughts and impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.

Libby leads two lives, one in 1774 Colonial Williamsburg, and the other in 1914 New York. When she wakes each day, she alternates between the two timelines. In 1774, Libby and her family struggle to run a press after the death of her father. When they become the public printer, they begin publishing to the lead-up to the American Revolution. In 1914, Libby is the daughter of a gilded age, new money mother, who intends to marry Libby to a titled lord in England. On her 21st birthday, Libby must choose which timeline to continue in, but her plans are out of her control.I generally do not like time jumping books, but this one was so well done, I just could not put it down. I can't wait to read more from this author. Her storylines were exciting and fast paced, her characters were well developed and multi dimensional. Overall, 5 out of 5 stars.

When I first started this book, I was skeptical because I was expecting an imitation of the Outlander books. I was pleasantly surprised to read an interesting story of someone who does travel between two worlds with the interesting twist of having to decide which one to live in after turning 21. I read the book quickly because it grabbed me almost from the first. I love the characters; even the less-pleasant ones have an important part in the story. The historical information rang true and reflected research on the author's part. I almost felt as though I was walking down Williamsburg's streets, meeting people I know from history and experiencing history being made. It has made me want to return to Williamsburg, which I haven't seen in decades. **I received a free copy of this book through LibraryThing's Early Reviewer's program in exchange for an honest review.**
