How will she choose, knowing all she must sacrifice? Libby has been given a powerful gift: to live one life in 1774 Colonial Williamsburg and the other in 1914 Gilded Age New York City. When she falls asleep in one life, she wakes up in the other. While she’s the same person at her core in both times, she’s leading two vastly different lives. In Colonial Williamsburg, Libby is a public printer for the House of Burgesses and the Royal Governor, trying to provide for her family and support the Patriot cause. The man she loves, Henry Montgomery, has his own secrets. As the revolution draws near, both their lives—and any hope of love—are put in jeopardy. Libby’s life in 1914 New York is filled with wealth, drawing room conversations, and bachelors. But the only work she cares about—women’s suffrage—is discouraged, and her mother is intent on marrying her off to an English marquess. The growing talk of war in Europe only complicates matters. But Libby knows she’s not destined to live two lives forever. On her twenty-first birthday, she must choose one path and forfeit the other—but how can she choose when she has so much to lose in each life?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Ahhhhhhhh!!!!! This was so amazing!!! Totally different than many Christian novels but that was one of the many things I liked about it! Highly recommend!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/55 stars - Listened via audio though I do own the paperback. My first book completion for 2024!
Another winner in the epic Timeless series (book 2)! How funny to think that I thought I would never read this series because of the time travel element. It wasn’t until after this 2nd book was released, and reading COUNTLESS rave reviews, that my trepidation was eased. I bought both for myself for Mother’s Day 2023.
I didn’t read book 1 until the fall of 2023 but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Though I don’t believe in time travel, I really respect the way the author handles it. It is still about God’s will, direction, and goodness. There is a strong faith foundation in the books to learn from and be challenged by.
This book differs in the paths/process from the first which made for an interesting twist. Again, the characters are so likeable and thought-provoking that it’s hard to ‘choose’ a path from the reader’s perspective as well. It’s almost as though you go through it with the character and learn so much along the way. It made me think of our ‘paths’ we need to choose in life. It’s not an easy process but the submission to God’s direction applies.
I suspected a twist that I truly thought was coming but didn’t, though I do think it would make for a very interesting aspect to a future book! (Insert mwah ha ha ha chuckle here.) Although there IS a different twist in the Epilogue that thrilled me! In book 2, I ardently dubbed the twist as the Page 251 Club in Book 1. In book 2, I happily became a fond member of the Page 378 Club!
I’m so glad book 3 is out in May, book 4 in November, and book 5 in 2025.
I chose a couple of quotes from late in the novel to add in here. I don’t feel they give anything away, though I intentionally used some ellipses in one area to save a surprise.
In This Moment Quotes:
Page 363 (between sisters):
“It was my grief that hindered what I truly wanted in life. For a long time, I was too afraid to go out into the world and grasp at what I wanted. You were God’s hands and feet, pulling me out of that grief and leading me by the hand until I found it.”
Page 364 (between sisters):
She pulled back and placed her hand over her heart…. “You’re a part of me, Maggie, the best part—just like I’m a part of you. None of us are independent of the ones we love. We’re woven together like a big tapestry, with each color unique and vibrant, but making a larger picture possible. You’re woven right here for eternity.”
