About this audiobook

Sherlockian detective of the supernatural R. F. Jackaby and his intrepid assistant Abigail Rook search for their ghostly landlady Jenny Cavanaugh's murderer and fight their most fearsome foe yet in the highly anticipated third volume of this New York Times bestselling paranormal mystery series Jenny Cavanaugh, the ghostly landlord of 926 Augur Lane, has enlisted the services of her detective-agency tenants to solve a decade-old murder--her own. Abigail Rook and her eccentric employer, R. F. Jackaby, dive into the cold case, starting with a search for Jenny's fiance, who went missing the night she died. But when a new, gruesome murder closely mirrors the events of ten years prior, Abigail and Jackaby realize that Jenny's case isn't so cold after all, and her killer may be far more dangerous than they suspected. Fantasy and folklore mix with mad science as Abigail's race to unravel the mystery leads her across the cold cobblestones of nineteenth-century New England, down to the mythical underworld, and deep into her colleagues' grim histories to battle the most deadly foe she has ever faced.

Not as fun as the first two. The mystery was really convoluted, and Jackaby wasn't as funny. The narrator still did an amazing array of voices though.

Oh, I like this series so much -- for its quirky, unexpected paths, for its unusual and excellent characters, for its subversive tolerance and its magical world. All of that combined with magical sleuthing! Stay strong, Jackaby, stay strong!

I really enjoyed this! It's been a while since I read book two and I was a bit worried that I wouldn't enjoy this book as much but I definitely did. This series continues to be a bunch of fun and very readable.

I completely forgot just how much I enjoy these characters! I've said this before but the eccentric older mentor can be a really annoying figure for me but I just love the way Jackaby is characterized. One aspect of this series that I continue to love is Abigail being wrong about things, or at least ignorant, and Jackaby teaching her something. I think too often in YA, the main character is always the one teaching everyone else how to be a good person and I find that it can come off as lecturing. In this case, it really seems like character development and I love that. Abigail in this book is still great and I really like her but my favorite character is still definitely Charlie. I forgot how much I love him, I honestly think he's one of my favorite characters of all time. If I had one complaint it's that there wasn't enough Charlie. He's such a lovely character and such a breath of fresh air in the world of egotistic love interests in YA.

The plot of this book was a little less interesting to me than the last book, but I can tell that we're setting some stuff up for the last book of this series so I thought that some more set up was fine. I didn't find the mystery to be super surprising but I don't really think that was the main point. I liked that we got some good character development for Jenny and we got to learn more about Jackaby's past. To me, those were the most interesting aspects of this book and really gave me more appreciation for these characters.

I'm excited to read the last book but I'm actually sad that this series is ending. I think I might pick up Ritter's other series despite the fact that I don't really read middle grade. I just love the way he writes and I feel like this series is underrated, so if you're think about trying this series, I think you should.

This was another really cool book. It lead way for another book in the series and I cannot wait. I did read out of order , don't do that. I missed something from book 2- it was kinda confusing. But I figured it out eventually. But again I so recommend this book.

Ghostly Echoes: A Jackaby Novel by William Ritter is book three in the series. In this book Jackaby finally is getting around to working on Jenny's case, she was murdered ten years prior. Jenny is the ghost in the house and their friend. There is soooo much that happens in here. I don't want to give anything away but it is all unpredictable and amazing! New bad guys that are truly evil! Great story!

I thoroughly enjoyed this one better than the second book. The story was more fast paced and it answered questions and opened more avenues on what to come next.

Jenny Cavanaugh, Jackaby's ghostly landlady, has enlisted Abigail and Jackaby to solve her own murder. Another fun and quirky installment in this supernatural Sherlock-like series. A light read with engaging characters - looking forward to continuing the series.

I purchased this book from Amazon to read with my bestie @mycornerforbooksand. All opinions are my own. ????? Ghostly Echoes by William Ritter. The Jackaby Series feels like it will always be something I can go back to and read again. Maybe then I can see it the way Jackaby does. 10 years ago Jenny Cavanaugh's world changed for eternity and as she begins to run through the emotions of what happened then she sets in motion a way to change her world once again. New Fiddleham is full of paranormal both good and evil and I can't wait to get to Book 4! Abigail Rook and her employer, Jackaby, have taken on what may be their most difficult case yet: solving the murder of their resident ghost, Jenny Cavanaugh. While Abigail is eager to help her friend, Jackaby is initially reluctant until a new spate of murders identical to those that happened ten years previously when Jenny died occur. As the trio work to unravel who is behind the gruesome deaths they discover a larger conspiracy that threatens the world as they know it.The third entry in the Jackaby series is as enjoyable as the previous two. I'm not sure if it was the considerable time gap between reading the previous book and this one but the writing in the first few chapters seemed a bit rocky. Afterwards, however, the book settled into its plot and everything took off. An excellent continuation of the series that sets up for major happenings in the next book.

This was a much more complicated book than I had thought it would be. I wasn't sure where investigating Jenny's death would lead, but it was certainly not the direction the book took, which was much more interesting than I had anticipated. There were a really varied range of curious and unexpected creatures encountered, it was nice to see Charlie and Douglas, and learning more about Jackaby was truly both revealing and emotional. Jenny's progress was also fun to watch. Abigail seems bolder. I enjoyed this more than the previous novel, as the characters really seemed to come more into their own. Just as a side note, while not an edge of your seat cliffhanger, the story will definitely pick up where this leaves off. Jenny's death was just the beginning of something pretty big!

“I was officially living out the pages of the penny dreadfuls I used to hide under my mattress from my mother. The heroes in those battered novels, I could not help but recall with a knot in my throat, did not always make it to the final page.”Ghostly Echoes is the third installment of the Jackaby series, and it doesn’t seem to be losing any of its charm. As the title suggests this installment focuses more on our ghostly resident, Jenny, and what brought about her untimely demise. Jenny and Abigail’s characters have grown marvelously since first meeting in Jackaby, and this story gives a great view of the bond and friendship they have formed over their time together.Detectives are usually hard to read or understand and Jackaby is no exception to that case, but in this installment the reader is allowed a glimpse of the man behind the name of R.F.Jackaby. Being a big mystery all on his own, the author giving a glimpse into Jackaby’s past and more of his present self made his character more relatable and gave new meanings to a few of his actions.Abigail and Jackaby’s relationship has been my favorite since picking up the first book. Too close to be employer/employee, but not at all romantic- it seems like Jackaby could almost be a friend of Abigail’s older brother. He’s caring in his own way, but always leaves the ultimate decision up to Abigail- she is smart and can think for herself, after all.The plot, as stated, follows the murder of our resident ghost, Jenny, which is also tied to more recent murders and a dark plot decades in the making. Science is mixing with magic, folklore coming out of the woodworks, ghosts (of course), and our favorite characters are stuck right in the thick of it all without a clear clue on who is really pulling the strings. As in all the previous books, it’s always interesting and fun not only trying to figure out the mystery of who, what, where, and why, but also the what; as in what kind of paranormal being is behind it all. Ghostly Echoes leaves the reader with one big mystery, and one big WHAT to figure out before the next installment is released.

I thought this was going to be a trilogy, so therefore this would be the last book. Imagine my happiness when I got to the end and realized that wasn't the case! A wonderful, wonderful edition to series, probably better than the two before it. Mr. Ritter's writing is getting better and better and this cover is gorgeous! Great character and story development in this installment. We finally got some answers whilst getting a ton more questions in return. Fantastic. fantastic story. I would recommend this book. 5 out of 5 stars.
