- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Well-written, compelling, with considerable stylistic innovations near the end of the novel.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A bit disappointed with this one. Winslow's typical break neck speed and memorable set pieces are not abundant and the first half is a pretty uneventful slog tbh. After being quite invested in City on Fire and waiting a year for this, it's a bit of a letdown. Fortunately it picked up again near the end and there were some good scenes there and the ending certainly had a nice twist. Hopefully the final book in the trilogy will be a blast.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Don Winslow...the man can freakin write! I always enjoy his books. He never seems to write the same book twice as some authors do. I also appreciate that while he often speaks and comments about politics, he keeps his politics out of his novels...for the most part.
