Irene Kelly's life has almost returned to normal after her near-fatal encounter with serial killer Nick Parrish who is now serving time in prison, unable to walk due to injuries sustained during his capture. But, just when Irene starts to feel safe again, she receives the news that Parrish is walking again and, according to his online fan club, The Moths, he is planning revenge against her.

Irene doesn't believe he can hurt her from the confines of prison until a seemingly random prank is connected to the discovery of a woman's murdered body that has been painted with elaborate pictures of moths. When two more similar bodies turn up, it becomes clear that irene has reason to worry.

The characters introduced in this plot provided a twist that I would have not guessed in a surprising connection to Parrish. I look forward to the next in the series.

I've had this book sitting on the TBR pile for awhile and have constantly been bypassing because I knew that once I picked it up, I wouldn't be able to stop. And that's exactly what happened. The one frustration I had was that there was a lot of telling rather than showing in some parts as it was necessary to show a time lapse of several months. It was done well, but it was something that I definitely noticed and found a bit frustrating. When the action did happen, however, it was so compelling that I could feel my heart racing. Not so good for the blood pressure! Jan Burke is an excellent writer and if you're in the mood for something that's going to get under your skin, this is it.
