About this audiobook
The innovative guide that reveals how eating more fat—the smart kind—is the key to health, longevity, and permanent weight loss.
For years experts have told us that eating fat is bad. But by banning fat from our diets, we’ve deprived ourselves of considerable health benefits—and have actually sabotaged our own efforts to lose weight.
Though they originally came from vastly different schools of thought about diet and weight loss, renowned nutritionist Jonny Bowden and well-respected physician Steven Masley independently came to the same conclusion about why so many people continually fail to shed pounds and get healthy. It all comes back to a distinction far more important than calories vs. carbs or paleo vs. plant-based: smart fat vs. dumb fat.
In Smart Fat, they explain the amazing properties of healthy fat, including its ability to balance hormones for increased energy and appetite control, and its incredible anti-inflammatory benefits. The solution for slimming down—and keeping the pounds off for life—is to “smart-fat” your meals, incorporating smart fats with fiber, protein, and most importantly, flavor. Bowden and Masley identify smart fats, explain what not to eat, and provide a thirty-day meal plan and fifty recipes based on the magic formula of fat, fiber, protein, and flavor.
It’s time to unlearn what we think we know about food. Getting smart about fat—and everything you eat—and learning to smart-fat your meals is the only solution you'll ever need.

I like this book. I have already learned most of this before reading this book. However, I have never heard about the 5-5-10 rule and it makes sense. Issues I am suffering is it says there is a place I can find the meal plan and lists of food. Audio book and I can't find it anywhere.
Great listen. Loved the mans voice as well.1 person found this helpful

The book itself is really informative and very clearly written.
The audiobook, however, needs work. I found it jumping around in sections, repeating information and ended literally in the middle of the cooking temperatures for oils segment.
Will definitely revisit after awhile, but for now I can’t actually finish it, sadly.1 person found this helpful

Dangerous misinformation obviously funded by industry. Beef, lard, butter, cheese neutral fats !!!?
I guess the correlation between America’s rates of heart disease and it’s increased consumption of these deadly saturated fats are imaginary?
Simply put breast milk from cows is perfectly designed… for cows. It’s unnatural and increases your chance of heart disease, breast/prostate cancer and death commensurate to the proportion in the diet.
Our longevity and evolution as a species thrives despite consumption of these foods and not because of them.
We didn’t begin to prosper and multiply as a species until we became agrarian and cultivated plants, relying less and less on animal products to survive. After all the average lifespan of Paleolithic man was 35 years of age.
It’s a simple equation. Maximize your intake of minimally or unprocessed plant foods including healthy plant sourced fats and minimize or ultimately eliminate animal sourced products.
Fad diets like these do two things. Put money in pockets and cadavers in the ground.
