About this audiobook

The first book in a sensational New Adult trilogy from Noelle August.

Welcome to Boomerang.com, the dating site for the millennial gen with its no-fuss, no-commitments matchups, and where work is steamier than any random hook-up.

Mia Galliano is an aspiring filmmaker. Ethan Vance has just played his last game as a collegiate soccer star. They’re sharp, hungry for success, and they share a secret.

Last night, Ethan and Mia met at a bar, and, well . . . one thing led to another, which led to them waking up the next morning—together. Things turned awkward in a hurry when they found themselves sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters.

What began as a powerful connection between them is treated to a cold shower courtesy of two major complications. First, Boomerang has a strict policy against co-worker dating. And second, they’re now competitors for only one job at the end of summer.

As their internships come to an end, will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other, or will the pull of attraction put them right back where they started?

I actually own this whole series, and it has been sitting on my shelf. I decided it was time to give it a chance. This was such a fun and cute read. I instantly got The Hating Game vibes (No, this did not end up anything like it), as it started off with two co-workers (interns) fighting over the same job. I was not a fan of The Hating Game, so I was happy to see that this different than that book. This was a quick read and I enjoyed it. Now I need to decide if I binge read the series or wait until I start the next one.

I am not familiar with either authors Veronica Rossi or Lorin Oberweger. In this case Noelle August. I wanted to check out this book because one the book cover was cute, two the storyline sounded good, and three I have been getting into this new genre "New Adult". Boomerang is a charming, witty, fun read! Mia and Ethan are great together. They shared instant chemistry and it had nothing to do with the fact that they woke up in bed together with Mia's underwear in the toaster oven. When I mentioned that this book was witty I forgot to also mention that this meant funny as well. There were a couple of times where I would a section to my husband and he would laugh. There was a moment at the end when Mia's hair had turned into a giant afro of curls. This only happened after really good sex. I thought this was funny because when I first met my husband years ago, he was into wearing hats backwards. He took his hat off and I thought I was never going to be seen again. My husband had a curly afro. I had never seen one up close. In fact, my husband made sure to get a hair cut before me met my parents for the first time. I can't wait to see what the second book brings. Probably more antics (I hope).

I love when a book gets right to the point right on the first page! Super fun and sexy! There is no denying the unrequited attraction between the main characters...Mia is smart, hardworking, confident and knows how to get what she wants. And, to make it all better, she's beautiful. Her mother is an artist, and she is her muse. Mia is determined to make a name for herself as a filmmaker and is relying on her new internship at Boomerang to give her the boost that she needs to be recognized.Ethan is good-natured, grounded and quite the achiever. This light-hearted guy has just kicked his last soccer ball at college and is now facing paying off his debt and trying to figure out what the next step is. He is hoping that Boomerang's internship will be exactly what he's looking for... or at least, to eventually help him put food on the table. But a one-night stand that goes astray seems to get these two off to a rough start on their first day of work. Who knew that they were going to not only be working at the same place, but that they were going to have to also compete with each other to get the job of a lifetime!I loved these two from the very first page - they are so witty and playful! Yet serious and caring when they needed to be. There is no way to deny the attraction. Over and over again they ogled each others beauty. But, eventually, it was nice to see them also take interest in each others personalities and good traits as well. They're feeling are genuine and deep. It was really a wonder to watch these two banter it out until the end. Both Mia and Ethan's families play major roles in their story. This really pushed me to give an extra star rating! It was so nice to see their family dynamics, problems, and love. I really got to see how they became who they are and how they got to where they are. So refreshing to get such a detailed and interesting background.Like most new adult romances, the storyline is predictable, light-hearted and never disappointing. Full of humor, sarcasm and priceless moments. It is the type of read that I love to get into when in a rut or in need of a smile.

It's very rare that I find an authentic New Adult novel these days, rather than just a YA novel in drag. If I had to rate content, I would say that Young Adult novels are usually pretty PG, perhaps in the rarest cases, PG-13/TV-14. And I, personally, feel New Adult novels fall in the NC-17 to R (versus the X of an erotic adult novel) level of what type of content they can feature and what I expect to read.I get excited when reading New Adult novels because after a while the cutesy "make out" sessions and super light cuss words (crap, damn..etc.) of the YA world make me feel kind of too self-aware of my so-called maturity (I'm only 23; technically a new adult) with me craving more from the world, story and characters. Mia and Ethan are both authentic and solidly realistic characters with incredible dialogue that felt as reals as if I knew them personally. As someone who is a film student I could definitely relate to Mia and loved the fact that she was an aspiring filmmaker too, there are too few characters in novels with aspirations and dreams like this. Ethan was hot, kind, and the farthest thing from a typical Bro-Type MC love interest possible. There were only few parts of Boomerang that dragged or felt more like a bridge between YA and New Adult, but as a whole the writing duo that is Noelle August have created quite possibly one of my favorite New Adult novels! This novel was provided to me in exchange for an honest review through a giveaway hosted through LibraryThing. Thank you to the publisher, author, and Librarything for giving me this opportunity!

I won this book through a LibraryThing giveaway and never received it so instead I borrowed it from the library and read it anyway. This is a light and amusing read that I finished in one night. About two young adults entering the workforce as interns and competitors at the same online dating company. The characters are extremely likable and the dialogue is witty. There is an attempt to add emotional depth to the storyline but it doesn’t amount to much. This is mostly just an easy, enjoyable read that is perfect for a lazy evening of reading.

Actual Rating: 3.5 starsFor more reviews, Cover Snark and more, visit A Reader of Fictions.Boomerang is, I think, new adult enough according to the traditional formula to please your general new adult reader. If you’re here for sexy times, incredibly hot characters, and spontaneous boners, then you’re going to leave happy. Boomerang has this in spades. While the sexy stuff definitely isn’t as central in Boomerang as perhaps is the case with most others, it’s present enough to scratch that itch. What Boomerang doesn’t have is tortured pasts and unhappy families. Both characters are loved and supported by their parents. Not only that but the parents actually have personalities. It’s downright amazing. As dark as Boomerang gets is financial problems for Ethan and the declining health of Mia’s grandmother. New adult has burned me on issues, particularly since a history of abuse is so often cured by a few good orgasms, which no. There is none of that here and I’m so glad for that.In place of that, Boomerang focuses primarily on Ethan and Mia figuring out what they want to do with their lives. The biggest part of transitioning from young adulthood to adulthood is figuring out how the heck you’re going to support yourself and be independent. It’s slowly taking over financial independence from your parents’, at least if you’re lucky enough to have had them continue to pay for things (or pay for things ever). It’s getting degrees or internships or first jobs. It’s trying a career and deciding that’s not what you actually want to do with your life. Boomerang deals with this heavily, as Ethan and Mia compete for an actual job at the end of their marketing internships at Boomerang. The other thing I really liked about Boomerang was the humor. A couple of chapters had me actually laughing out loud. Seriously, the first dates via the Boomerang site killed me. Then there are great lines like this:"Am I in love with him?I don’t know. I only know I want to see him, just to sit with him, breath the same air. Okay, maybe attack him like an expensive buffet."Both Ethan and Mia are really funny, though Mia especially. They’re silly and they reference pop culture. They actually banter. They do get eye-rollingly serious sometimes, but they spend more time amusing me.Ethan and Mia’s romance, in tied and tested romance tradition evolve more quickly into something serious than I find particularly believable. I also found the actual kissy, romantic scenes to be pretty out of the box. They felt very much like all the others I’d read before. Boomerang‘s a great addition to new adult, but I think it’s strengths lie in what makes it stand out from the crowd. Though I’m not opposed to them, I never really ended up having strong feelings about Ethan and Mia’s relationship. I am, however, very much approving of the secondary character hookups.Boomerang is a fun read for those who have been wishing new adult novels would sacrifice some sex scenes in exchange for some actual new adultiness.

Mia and Ethan are such fun characters. I loved every bit of this book. I may have stayed up until the early morning hours to finish it.

Mia is determined to make her own way in the world. She doesn’t want to be given opportunity based on who her mother is. She’s so funny too. She’s able to think on a whim, but doesn’t let others in easily. She has a great group of friends that will do anything to make sure she’s having a good time. Ethan is fun and easy going. He doesn’t let others bring him down. He is also pretty hysterical.

These two meet in crazy circumstances, and things only get crazier as they are paired as interns at Boomerang. The only catch is that only one person will get the job. They have a strong connection between them, but can’t do anything about it because of policy. They are constantly having to dampen down their wants because of it. I do like how they become friends. They are able to help each other out in tough situations. They are also pretty comfortable around each other, most of the time.

Boomerang is perfect for a summer read. There’s lots of flirting, fun, and crazy moments. These characters are absolutely awesome, and I can’t wait to see more from this author duo.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book, not because it blew me out of the water, but because it seemed to have heart, something that isn't generally present in new adult romance. It was very reminiscent of Stephanie Perkins young adult romance novels, adorable, quirky, and fun. Plus lots of feel good vibes. The story opens with two young twenty somethings as they wake up naked in bed, hungover and confused. Realizing that they must have one hell of a night, they sheepishly put on their clothes and head their separate ways. Little do they realize that they are also both of the new interns hired at Boomerang, an online dating company. What are the odds that they would both see each other again, and this time as competitors, not as lovers! There are two internships but only one job opening available afterwards. They have to put their sexual chemistry aside and play ball to see who wants the job most. It's cute, funny, and an enjoyably easy read.
