Author

Katie Bailey

Katie Bailey writes rom-coms to make you laugh, cry, then laugh until you cry again. She’s a hopeless romantic, and her goal is to always write swoony, funny love stories with memorable characters and lots of heart—oh, and good looking heroes, of course.

Ok, this book was SO good. I love Annie’s character. She’s funny and silly and witty and boy- Liam is H O T. The book is closed door but has really good chemistry and tension (like, really good). This is my favorite -so far- by Katie Bailey!
(Note on the narration: in my opinion the male narrator was a little too ‘peppy’ and cheerful for Liam’s character but all in all, they did a really good job).

The book has a lot of unnecessary plot and the male narrator is very cringe at times. It killed it for me. I had to stop listening.

A lovely rom com! Characters are quite relatable. It was nice to read about Brene Brown's thoughts on vulnerability and how the main character tries to put it to work.

This could have been condensed by about half , but it was a cute read for a cold stay in weekend!

You know, like DNR (Did Not Finish) only kinda worse. I really wanted to like this. And I feel bad for leaving such a negative review. But honesty is the point.
After investing many, many hours into this audiobook, I just couldn’t take any more. These characters are not compatible and the author was not making a convincing argument as to why we should change our minds about that. Each of them had strong personalities that are in opposition to each other. That’s a good thing, right? It’s typical. It’s a needed conflict. They slowly change their point of view and lovingly meet in the middle. Except if and when that ever happens, I’m not emotionally invested enough to care. It’s too slow paced. The characters are not any where realistically moving toward each other. Without any reasons to change perspective, we are just supposed to buy that voilà, those pesky annoying things that they don’t like about each other are suddenly lovable.
I’d recommend you invest your time and money on a different story.
PS The narrators do a good job. It has that going for it.

    3.5 stars... Maybe

This is a closed door RomCom with not much Rom and too much Com. I felt like every other sentence was written in a way to prove a chuckle or some kind of humor. It felt a bit over the top to me. Also, I didn't get much romance from the main couple. Attraction maybe. I just wasn't invested. That may just have been because of the authors writing style and could very well be me. I know many reviewers loved this, and there were a couple of cute scenes. Overall it wasn't my cup of tea.

There is mild language used and innuendo mentioned that at times made me cringe. I listened to the audiobook. I didn't want to DNF this one. I finally sped it up just over half way through so that I could move on to another book.

This book is pretty boring and too long. I thought it was surely close to wrapping up only to find out I was on on chapter 26 of 50 with over 3 hours left to listen to!

I honestly felt like I’d been listening to it for so long that I wasn’t sure the start of the book was the same book I was listening to. The male character in particular just didn’t seem to be the same person. It wasn’t character development but it was poor writing. The male narrator is terrible as well so that ruined it a lot. He reads everything sarcastically and his female voices sound like a parody.

I don’t mind long romance books but they have to be interesting and really do character development well. This definitely does not do that.

Side note, the author seems obsessed with Brene Brown which is cringeworthy and explains a lot about the lack of depth in the book. Let’s just say, there’s a lot of catchphrases and absolutely zero substance
