This is a new start for Ella, Ripley is retired, Tobias is dead, things should be easier for her, and she should be able to enjoy her 2-week vacation. Of course, none of that happens. Ella talks to her boss, finds out her new partner, Paige, is going out on a case herself and can't let that happen. The case seems to be moving quickly, people are dying all around and they keep just missing the bad guy, until they don't, and things go from bad to worse. I hate what happened to Paige, hate that Ella was once again in dire straits, did love that Ripley came back to help her friend. The ending to this one was bittersweet, they caught the guy, but there were huge losses. I do find I'm intrigued by what Ella learned about Ben, interested to see where that goes.

Need a new narrator. Hilariously written English by AI perhaps. Books like this have me thinking the best seller list is fake.
