About this audiobook
She excels at everything—especially at capturing his heart.
Philip Townsend is too busy trying to render his estate profitable to worry about managing its rundown houseor finding a woman suited to the role of his wife. His beautiful and competent neighbor Honoria would be thelogical choice, were it not for the enmity between their fathers that makes such a thing impossible.
Honoria Bassett takes pride in a household well run and cannot understand why her dear neighbor won’t make more of an effort at his. When it comes to the choice of husbands, she is too certain of what she wants to consider Philip for the role. But his tendency toward quiet acts of heroism, and those firm lips quirked upward in a grin, keep doing strange things to her heart.
When challenges appear in their individual lives, Philip and Honoria turn to one another for guidance. Now in constant company, the strength of their feelings makes them question whether mere friendship is enough. But even if they decide they might suit, how in the world will they convince Honoria’s father to agree?

Reviews for A Whimsical Notion

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I liked that this story was set in Lincolnshire, far away from the London scene. I did like the characters of Honoria and Philip. Honoria was a very capable and caring woman who thought she was in love with her friend’s handsome brother. Philip was an honourable and caring gentleman, who lived in the neighbouring estate. A number of events lead to Philip and Honoria viewing each other in a different light. However, circumstances are against them and none more than Honoria’s father! Also, Honoria has long had feelings for another handsome gentleman. This was a gentle romance that moved along at a gradual pace. The attitude of some of the men towards the capability of women must have been very frustrating for an intelligent woman like Honoria. There were some very interesting secondary characters and I hope they get their stories as well.
I have heard a number of audiobooks narrated by Stevie Zimmerman and have always enjoyed her readings. This was no exception, she has an easy voice to listen to and she changes her accent and tone for the different characters, to bring them to life. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good book, nice clean romance with a happy ending. I recommend this author, well written and interesting books
