About this audiobook

From #1 bestselling mystery and suspense author Blake Pierce comes a gripping new series: when a serial killer escapes from a mental hospital, the FBI creates an elite unit to target criminally-insane killers. FBI Special Agent Valerie Law, a rising star, is the perfect candidate—but for Valerie, this case may just hit too close to home.

“A masterpiece of thriller and mystery.”
—Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (re Once Gone)

With an insane killer on a spree, the clock is ticking for Valerie and her partner—and the brilliant psychiatrist on their team—to enter his mind and stop him before he strikes again. The twisted pathway to his psyche takes them down the dark road of the killer’s past, into orphanages, alienated family members, and shattered survivors.

It is a road that may be too dark for even Valerie—one of the best BAU agents—to head down. She has tried too hard to escape her own past to withstand much more on her psyche.

And when the killer sets his sights on her, it may just be her final undoing.

Is Valerie one step ahead of this killer?

Or has she walked right into a trap?

A page-turning crime thriller featuring a brilliant and haunted new female protagonist, the VALERIE LAW mystery series is packed with suspense and driven by a breakneck pace that will keep you turning pages late into the night.

NO MERCY is book #1, and books #2 and #3 in the series—NO PITY and NO FEAR—are now also available.

“An edge of your seat thriller in a new series that keeps you turning pages! ...So many twists, turns and red herrings… I can't wait to see what happens next.”

The most Horrible narration! But I really liked the book. The narrator announced each chapter TWICE. It was a struggle to listen because she kept repeating entire sentences. I felt quite lost and it was all I could do to keep listening. This person should not be narrating anything. OMG I SWEAR I JUST HEARD HER BURP. SHE'S HORRIBLE!

Book was fine but some of the chapters were messed up(repeated things and extended blank spaces) someone needs to re-edit this audiobook.

The story may have been good but i couldn't get passed the terrible narration. It sounds as tho the unedited version was posted. You can hear the reader restart sentences to change her inflection multiple times and even clear her throat. it made me nervous just listening to it. I stopped at chapter 14 where they repeated the title of book and narrator info for the 15th time.

Not a very good narration and the quality of recording was dreadful

English is my second language, but I think I would do better job narrating this book. Chapter 13 was horrible. The narrator sounded drunk!

Who knows if the book is good? The editing! You hear the narrator repeating herself, making a high sterling noise when she made a mistake and even burp a time or two! ? it was pathetically hilarious.

I liked the story line but having the same intro /outro for every chapter was frustrating.

The narrator was awful. Repeating the title and who narrated after every chapter, twice was irritating. I love Blake Pierce but I don't think I can handle another audio book with this narrator....

Couldn’t even finish this because of the terrible reading. She even burped at one point

I did not like the introduction to the book after each chapter and then again at the beginning of a new chapter. Narrative was often repeated. Poor production of a good story

At first I thought the repeats and breaks in sentences might be due to automated narration. BUT THEN I broke out laughing when the narrator let loose a gnarly burp. The book itself was great and the same goes for the narrator but….. this entire audiobook needs editing.

I really enjoy this author normally. Sadly though the continuity of this book was ruined by 3 things. Firstly, the decision to stop the flow with not 1 but 2 sets of title, author and narrator information at the end/start of every chapter. Secondly, the narrator’s lack of preparation/rehearsal/experience (the reason is not clear) which led to sudden stops, silences, irritated sounds and then repetition or repetitions of the part sentence/sentence etc. Thirdly, the obvious lack of quality checking before releasing. Chapter 16 has good examples of the narrator’s general approach and why it totally spoiled the flow and prevented the reader from immersing them self in the story.

Story sounded very promising but I soon realized the recording sounded like I was listening to the first recording session with constant reading errors and each chapter announcing the title author and narrator. Could not finish audio and was so disappointed since I enjoy books by Blake Pierce and look forward to anything new by the author.

What an awful editing of this audiobook. I just couldn’t continue listening and I agree with everyone else when they say this needs serious editing (before uploading something so poorly recorded).
You guys (Scribd) seriously need to pay attention to this kind of things beforehand.

I really wanted to listen to this book but the recording was horrible! The narrator continues to repeat lines, each chapter begins with the name of the book and author interrupting the flow of the story, and the narrator was burping. Doesn't someone edit these? So disappointing. I couldn't finish.

The Editing needs sorting. Very distracting. Story is good otherwise.

The story was okay, but a bit dark; however, the lack of editing out of blunders in reading made some chapters very hard to listen to.

Something is wrong with the audio. The narrator keeps repeating the intro twice at the start of each chapter. It’s annoying and distracting. Please fix it…
Chapter 13’s recording is also terrible!! Not professional at all!!!
The two stars I give is purely because of the story line which is really nice but it’s too hard to enjoy!!

Great sorry, but...the editing (if it even happened), is horrible! The narrator keeps introducing the book at each chapter and chapter 13 is the worse audiobook chapter I ever listened to! Very unprofessional and distracting. On the other hand the story was good. As ever, Blake Pierce delivers.
