Reviews for Tinfoil Crowns

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is the author's first novel and it reads like that. The premise is so good but the execution is completely flat. The names are peppy, the situations are millennial, the slang is hep. In short the shallow things are given so much prominence that the depth behind the words, character arcs, emotions is completely lost. The postpartum psychosis is what should've been the focus. How the mother daughter heal their relationship should've been the crust of the book. And that all important part is totally missing. One trip together and all is forgiven. No mention of her years in prison, no flashbacks, no character development nothing. For an author who knows all about gender pronouns, she uses the name 'Fit' about a million times without using pronoun. Might have been ok to read, but in the narration hearing it again and again is annoying.
Basically i highly recommend this book for a 12 year old.
