Nuisanced and maturely written characters brilliantly voice acted, their story is intense and compelling from start to finish. I loved the magic, a unique flavour added a lot of depth to a power that is quite well used in fiction. The historical setting is authentic and well utilised and a good choice for the story being told. This story deals with some pretty heavy topics particularly around exploitation & abuse, they are very well handled and have the devastating emotional impact they should. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

This was a very exciting, turn-of-the-century YA romance set among con-artist illusionists and their assistants at the 1909 Seattle World's Fair. Rather than being strictly historically accurate, it imagined a slightly more pleasant history with more acceptance and less slurs—still lots of heist-y crime and violence, though! - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

teen fiction (magician's assistant meets murderer/kidnapper's captive with magical abilities at the World's Fair in 1900s Seattle and adventure/heist ensues)
a fun diversion, and I like that in addition to the multiple queer characters there are a number of very smart, very strong women who do not need rescuing.
