Fiona woke to the sound of distant police sirens. Irritated, and slightly hungover from her night out, she turned over to check the alarm clock on her bedside table.

The digital clock face was completely blank.

‘Don’t tell me there’s a power cut?’ she grumbled, reaching for her trusty phone.

The mobile showed 8.30am.

‘Dammit!’ she exclaimed. ‘Late for work again. At least I’ve got an excuse this time.’
