About this audiobook

THE KILLING TIDE (An Alexa Chase Suspense Thriller—Book 2) is book #2 in a new series by mystery and suspense author Kate Bold, which begins with THE KILLING GAME (Book #1).

Alexa Chase, 34, a brilliant profiler in the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, was too good at her job. Haunted by all the serial killers she caught, she left a stunning career behind to join the U.S. Marshals. As a Deputy Marshal, Alexa—fit, and as tough as she is brilliant—could immerse herself in a simple career of hunting down fugitives and bringing them to justice.

But with her last case a big success, the FBI and the Marshals have decided to make their joint-task force permanent. Alexa, reeling from her own traumatic past and her PTSD of hunting serial killers, has no choice: she will now have to work with an FBI partner she dislikes and hunt down serial killers whose jurisdiction intertwines with that of the U.S. Marshals. Alexa finds herself forced to confront the thing she dreads the most—entering a killer’s mind.

Two federal judges are murdered, and startling evidence points to the work of a serial killer with a vendetta. But the judges have tried and convicted hundreds of people over their long careers, and with the suspect list a mile long, Alexa is in the race of her life to find the killer before he kills another judge on his list.

And when the next victim offers a shocking twist, it throws everything Alexa thought she knew into doubt.

Is this truly a vendetta? Or is this killer far more diabolical than he seems?

To find this diabolical killer, Alexa will have to do what she fears most—enter his twisted mind, before he can strike again. It’s a life-and-death game of cat and mouse, and it’s winner takes all. But will the darkness swallow her whole?

Book #3 in the series—THE KILLING HOUR—is also available.

Im so torn with this review. This is the second book in the series and i think the stories are really good...... But the narrator sounds like a robot, there is no distinction between charachtera at all!! So you don't know who speaking... Unfortunately I found myself skimming the chapters to get to the end because I juat couldnt listen to him any more... My review of the first book wanted to get to know alexa and Stuart more but this book made me realise because of the narrator there was no hope of that...so Im giving up.... Shame!!

I typically like crime novel a lot, but this narrator's voice made it impossible to get past the 4th chapter... I just can't!

Let’s just say Kate really needs to keep Justin Price. I tried to listen to “The Killing Tide”. I was so excited! I couldn’t make it through the first chapter with the narrator. I REALLY tried. Horrible.

The story was really good but the narrator was so monotone, I really had to push myself to finish the book. I felt like it was poisoning him to read the book. Not engaging at all. It's too bad though, like I said the content of the story was great.

i liked the story but the person narrating was terrible and blah. There was no real emotion and every character sounded the same...just reading words which made it hard to listen. Honestly he sounded like the guy from the tv show King of the Hill on total monotone.

The first book was good but I could not get though this one. Very disappointed in the narrator, he reads with no emotion and it is the same flat tone for every character. This makes it hard to keep up with who is who and what is going on.

The Killing Tide (Alexa Chase #2) was a great read by Kate Bold. Alexa Chase's last case was a big success. The FBI and Marshals have decided to make their joint task a permanent one. Alexa is reeling from her own traumatic past and the PTSD she has gotten from hunting down serial killers. There are two federal judges that are murdered, and the evidence points to a serial killer with a vendetta. But the list of possible suspects is miles long with all the people they have convicted. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Quite possibly the worst narrator I’ve ever heard. Just awful. Was excited to listen to the next installment of the misadventures of miss chase too. Shame.

The book itself is really good! It’s a great addition to the first book. The characters are likeable and continue to add to the storyline. The narrator is absolutely out of his element. It’s as though someone from your 10th grade year is taking his turn reading a paragraph is English class! It’s so hard to get through but if you stick with it and see the humor in the awful narration the content is great. I’m looking forward to book three!!!

Yet another possibly great book ruined by the narrator. The monotone, bored reading was terrible. Following the reading it sounded like there was only one character, very dull character. Also, the narrator sounded like he was sucking on a mint or had a salivary problem. At one point, he sounded like Hannibal Lector in Silence of the Lamb getting ready to eat someone's liver! Not everyone is talented in the area of book narration. I cannot sing, and therefore I.dont join a choir or singing group..it would ruin it for everyone!!. Some people just cannot read aloud, and it seems like the people casting these narrators dont get it! Whoever hires these narrators needs to go back to square one. It's sad because I'm sure the author put a lot of effort into writing this book, only to have the audible version ruined by terrible narration. Hopefully, book 3 has a different narrator.

While I like the stories, it is the narrators that only earns this series 3 stars.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the story line. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because of the narration. This guy could not have been more monotone. OMG, it took all I had to actually get through the whole book. Please authors, producers, whomever chooses the narrators... Their reading of the book can make or break your ratings. Please take the time to choose good narrators. This made me want to start narrating myself.

    Gripping.
I liked continuing to see into Alexa's life and psyche.
This novel is not as enthralling as the first one, but a good sequel.
