The characters and narration were both "10" and this is a wonderful author. I especially liked that this story takes place in the US. Los Angeles, specifically. The reason I removed one point is graphic violence, brutality; and there were too many repetitive graphic descriptions of his injuries. I am especially sensitive to those types of things, so ymmv. Going to continue w the series but would love to hear from Keira again & again in each book. ?

Are all gay romance stories set in the USA? It seems so. There are awesome stories from other parts of the world - watch the movie from South Africa: "Moffie" - Afrikaans for Faggot.

I’ve never read NR Walker like this, so while it was a new experience to read something darker than NW usually writes, it was great nonetheless. I recommend this one (and truly anything by NR Walker because nothing is formulaic, and the relationships she writes are all heart).
