About this audiobook

Austin comes to England knowing as an American he'll stick out at his new school. But when an errant owl lands him at Hogwarts he's in for more than he expected.

If it’s not hard enough being the only American at Hogwarts, Austin’s sorted into the most despised of all the houses. Then bumbling around the dungeon while trying to find his common room, he unwittingly helps the monster from the Chamber of Serpents. Will he discover the secret of the Chamber before he becomes another victim of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named?

This is definitely not a parody of the Harry Potter series. This book is more aptly described as Harry Potter fanfiction. A 13 year old American Muggle finds himself at Hogwarts, "Forest-Gumping" his way through the background of the events of the second Harry Potter book. While not overly descriptive or in depth, it is an entertaining book to read or listen to. It relies heavily on the previous understanding of the Harry Potter series in order for the reader to understand its nuances. An excellent and entertaining piece of Harry Potter fanfiction. Not particularly intellectual or comedic. This is a great book to read or listen to with your kids. I would definitely enjoy a sequel to this book.

This is a fantastic, lighthearted, and funny story worth reading for anyone who knows the story of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. If you do not know that story already, this storyline may be confusing unless you pay close attention to details. Great work!

What an interesting Harry Potter parody! It follows the Chamber of Secret and as a fan of Harry Potter I think it's brilliant. The characters' names are changed slightly and I found myself giggling whenever Austin mentioned Dumblesnore. I wish there more Harry Plotter parody books out there!

This seems more like a self-insert fanfiction than a parody. It told the exact events from HP2 but from an outsider’s perspective and interpretation of them. Not sure how that’s a parody. But I still found it enjoyable.

As a harry potter fan, I REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS BOOK! I didn't expect it would be this fun! This will forever remain as part of my head cannon. I wish there were more. I recommend you read the originals before you get to this book though. It would read like Lion King 1 1/2. Haha. Love it.

    I really enjoyed it!
I laughed a lot. Loved the overlap and different point of view coming from Austin.
The reader was very good at bringing it all to life.
While it is claimed to be a parody it felt much more like a companion. *thumbs up*

Some lighthearted ribbing and some decent fanservice, I thought it would be a lampoon based on the title. I reckon any Harry Potter fan would get some sort of kick out of it.

I loved that Austin and Herminie were friends and that, from the inside, the Slytharins aren’t so bad!

This is a very enjoyable book to hear. At first the names make the story feel like a Parody and everything is hilarious. Later the story turns into a fan fiction of the events of the second Harry Potter book from another perspective. Overall highly recommend!

Really good a first it feels like a parody, but then it turns out to be more and more interesting, and you end up listening whole story, i also loved the readers interpretation of Snape.

Not very funny or satirical. Lacks the humor, vivid writing, and detail necessary to come close to the original story. An interesting take on Slytherin house, at least.

I enjoyed this book far more than I expected. Far beyond a simple parody, it provides both a delightful story and fresh perspective on the HP universe we thought we knew. I marveled at the author’s weaving of a new tale between the gaps of a known story.

I was a bit sceptical going into this, but after reading the reviews I decided to give it ago. This was such a fun, light and entertaining read. It was interesting reading it from another perspective as well.

As an avid HP fan who has never found an enjoyable fanfic, I loved this! The slightly changed names were hilarious and the story fit very well with the original books :)

Initially it felt preposterous with the changed character names due to copyrights, but since it was a short listen I stuck it out and honestly in the end enjoyed the story a lot!! The author did a great job keeping the timeline and plot the same but inventing a new character and story that fit into the events. Thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to any HP fan!
