About this audiobook

Rhys Powell and Derek Scott are divorcing. Mistakes have been made, lines have been crossed, and there’s no going back. Both men are exhausted and ready to move on.

But their daughter is getting married soon. In the name of not putting a damper on her wedding, Derek and Rhys agree to keep the divorce on the down-low and show up as the happy couple everyone still believes they are.

And between a roller coaster of a road trip and the love and joy surrounding the wedding...Derek and Rhys just might remember why they fell for each other in the first place.

Are they only kidding themselves? Or can a rekindled spark really light the way to forgiveness?

This is an amazing book! I could feel how desperate and hurt the characters felt. Their emotions felt so real. The narrator does an excellent job of adding to this story!

Oh I’m so raw and emotional from this one… it is, as always, a well-written, we’ll-rounded story from L.A. Witt. I loved it, but… rough. What do you do when things are just too much to overcome? Fortunately for Rhys and Derek, circumstances forced them to confront all that went wrong and recognize what they had to lose, and that’s what this author does better than most other writers I’ve read. This was NOT an easy story to witness; I was truly broken hearted for them both, even while I wanted to be enraged and bitter and I wanted retribution to be served… I was surprised, and relieved when they were able to look at one another and find grace and forgiveness. I was also relieved when none of it was easy for either of them. But the way it worked out was beautiful even if it was a little too real to be a storybook HEA. This is why Witt will forever be one of my favorites.

Rip my heart out why don't you! L.A. Witt does it again with a complex and gut wrenching story involving real characters with real problems living in a real world. This one was almost too real for a while, but bear down and get through it. It's totally worth it in the end.

Rhys is a teacher and coach with a missing leg. Derek is a veteran and I don't remember what he does accountant maybe? They have a daughter from Derek's previous relationship with a woman. Rhys cheated, Derek wants a divorce, they are keeping this secret from their daughter and must now survive a road trip to her wedding and then the wedding itself.

It was interesting because you see Rhys' mistake, but as the book goes on you realize Derek has most of the power in their relationship. Derek makes more money, it's Derek's biological child, it's Derek's house, and Derek seems to have more family and friends. The sad thing is at the end that power dynamic is kind of worse. So I feel more bad for Rhys.

Poignant and rooted in reality. I cried several times and had all the feels. Beautiful story of finding your way back to love after cheating.
