Dylan McCormick is an average eighteen year old kid who graduated high school with his friends. The plus side of working at the family sandwich shop instead of going straight to university is he skipped gaining the freshman fifteen. The downside is no woman likes hearing, "keep it down, my parents are upstairs . . ." A small indignity in exchange for free rent and a job that pays above minimum wage. Everything changes when Thomas Michael Sweeny starts sniffing around the shop. Dylan's dad doesn't want to sell his American dream. Some things are more important than money. What Dylan's father doesn't know was that when he said no to Sweeny, he was really saying no to a vampire. Vampires aren't known for handling rejection well. Seventeen hundred miles away in Phoenix, Arizona, Saul and Greg Cooper are also working in their family business. Their father is the current Van Helsing and leader of the Helsing Society. They're growing tired of their father's orders to wait and watch from the shadows. They want to take action against the creatures of the night. What they long for is the chance to fight back. What they need is a champion. Then it would be the vampires' turn to fear the night.

Saul thinks there might be a werewolf in Phoenix. It couldn't be true. Could it? Dylan almost can't believe what he sees. The only werewolves that dare cross into the Master's territory are those with a death wish and teens participating in their rite of passage. The Master made his feelings clear. Phoenix is his city, and he doesn't want to share. Krista has plans of her own. She's tired of working for the royals and wants to branch out. Every investor knows that start-ups are risky, but one of hers has finally come to fruition. The Prince will be lost without her, but it's time to stop being a lackey and take control of her life. Without his witch powers, Randal would have never found his true potential. There were great actors, and then there was him. He could literally become anyone. All he needed was their face. All he has to do to keep the gravy chain rolling is complete his latest work. No one ever said it would be easy working with a vampire, but if things didn't work out, he could always find a new face and disappear. Werewolves in the city, witches without faces, and the royals making a move against the Master, what could possibly go wrong?
