Key Takeaways

I’ve always been really interested in what motivates people.
Within my corporate role, I had to establish an internal marketplace, write the courses, do the training and carry a budget.
As a leader in a company with a strong influence, it was about balancing family life and work life.
Having built a business internally for a company, I wanted to build a company externally for myself.
I decided I wanted to have the freedom to build something and the freedom to decide when I wanted to work.
Certainly, it’s vital to have the freedom to make a difference, to be empowered to be able to drive things through.
It wasn’t an option to stop working. Some people thought it was incredibly risky for me to be starting out on my own.
I didn’t start a business as high risk as. I think when you are in a job you are potentially only ever 3 months away from being made redundant.
It made sense for me to have an HR software business because it's about trying to address some of the pains that I'd experienced as an in-house HR professional.
Beyond that, I understood the bigger picture, the impact, and the change required by people.
When you introduce any software its 10-20% of the solution, whereas the behavioural change is 80% of the solution. We’ve always wanted to achieve this outcome, so we run training courses to develop management skills.
With the HR Uprising, we can share and disseminate to more people. Therefore, we get more of the 80% behavioural change happening.
My top value is around making a difference. Certainly, for me, this is about collaborating and sharing with other people.
The idea of The HR Uprising is that we will rise up together through support and collaboration.

Best Moments

"A lot of us struggle with imposter syndrome and it’s something I’ve had to work to overcome"

"I have a passion for the NHS and one day I’d like to get involved in supporting it further"

"I started out delivering training whilst I worked out what direction I wanted to take"
