Description

When emotionally out of control with frustration or anger, we have very little control over the words that come out of our mouths and consequently very little is communicated of any value. In the stressful environment of the family courtroom, it can be all too easy to succumb to this situation. Michael details how you should stay in control and control what you say.
KEY TAKEAWAYS

When giving evidence be clear that the point of your communication is not to let off steam or discuss trivial, unrelated matters.
You must have a clear goal in mind when giving evidence and give tailored and specific information illustrated with examples when necessary.
In the witness box everything you say should be carefully weighed and considered before you decide to express it.

BEST MOMENTS
‘They are talking incessantly but their words have no real value or meaning. No real thought has been given to what they are saying. They are angry, frustrated and impulsive and they don’t care if the world knows it.’
‘The quality of the words you use, the tone you use when expressing yourself, the use you make of speaking concisely and of silence, as well as the overall attitude you adopt throughout answering questions all colour the way you come across to those listening to you.’
‘Think of the end result first. How do you want to feel after you have completed giving your evidence?’
