John, you need not be concerned at all.  You wrote that you are worried perhaps  that prostitutes are lining the streets and are on every corner.  This is simply not true.  Even though prostitution is indeed legal in Costa Rica, if one is not looking for it, it is like it does not even exist.  A few hotels are known for it and simply stay away from those specific areas!  You're all set to go to one of the Happiest Countries on the Planet.  Have a wonderful time with you wife and children!
