Description

Many patients are not able to tolerate milk and dairy products due to GI symptoms such as bloating or diarrhea. In functional medicine, an elimination diet or food antibody testing can help uncover if the casein in cow’s milk might be at the root of these symptoms. Patients often turn to milk alternatives such as plant and nut ‘milk’ to avoid the difficulties with cow’s milk. However, research is showing that it may be a specific type of casein that is causing the problem in milk and there is a debate on the health risks of types of casein: A1 vs. A2.
Today we break down the controversy regarding A1 versus A2 milk and we discuss the pros and cons of various types of milk.
