Description
Malo and welcome to Season 3 Episode 18 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this beautiful Tuesday morning 18 October 2022, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! In rugby – after their sensational last play of the game 21-17 win with just a minute to go over South Africa at the Women’s Rugby World Cup on Sunday, Team Fijiana are resting up ahead of their next must-win game against France to qualify for the quarter finals. Wanna bet? In rugby league – Lebanon stunned the Kiwis with a try inside the opening minute of their RLWC game yesterday in England, before the Kiwis Fullback, Joey Manu stole the show, scoring a try, setting another one up and burning the opposing defence with his powerful running to help the Kiwis to a 34-12 win. Meanwhile England’s Rugby League World Cup game against Toa Samoa at Newcastle United’s iconic St James Park, broadcast live on BBC1 in the UK on Saturday, drew a massive television audience which peaked at 1.8million viewers. Great exposure for Samoa. In the NBA – The Lakers LeBron James sits atop the Forbes highest-paid NBA player list with pretax earnings of US$124.5Million - US$80M of that earned off the court. Steph Curry is second, earning US$48.1M on the court. Add his off-court income and Curry’s earnings total hits US$95.1M. In third place - Kevin Durant on US$88Million, Giannis Antetokounmpo on US$86.5M and Russell Westbrook on US$82.1M in fifth spot. From 6th to 10th spot on the Forbes list of the Top Ten highest paid NBA players is Klay Thompson and Damian Lillard both on US$60.6Million, then James Harden on US$53M, Paul George on US$51M and Jimmy Butler 10th on US$49.7M. In football – BREAKING NEWS: Manchester United star, Mason Greenwood has been remanded in custody after a district judge found that he breached bail conditions over allegations of attempted rape and other offences. The 21-year-old, who stood in the dock yesterday, has been ordered to appear in Manchester Crown Court on 21 November. In boxing – Deontay Wilder returned to winning ways, knocking Robert Helenius out in the first round with a thunderous right hand. Helenius didn’t just go down, he stayed down with his eyes staring up into the rafters. It was a solid reminder that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is back. So who is next? The Cossack Warrior Oleksandr Usyk or tough Londoner Joe Joyce?
