Description

Malo  and welcome to Episode 79 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this beautiful bright and sunny  Saturday morning 17 September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the  180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In rugby – the  government of Fiji awarded all the players and staff of the Men’s 7s  Team F$10,000 each for winning the Rugby World Cup 7s in Cape Town last  week which Ben Gollings described as unreal. The Team Fijiana girls got a frying pan! In  South Africa, Springboks dietician, Zeenat Simjee and married star  flyhalf, Elton Jantjies have both denied a South African newspaper  report that they were involved in an affair prior to the Springboks game  with the All Blacks last month and called for the story to be  retracted. In rugby league – the  Eels absolutely smashed the Raiders 4-40 six tries to one at Allianz  Stadium Sydney last night, with all their big guns firing – no doubt  spurred on by the nepotism claims fired just before the game to unsettle  them; Waqa Blake, Junior Paulo and Mitchell Moses all scored. In  US sports memorabilia – a jersey worn by Michael Jordan in Game 1 of  the 1998 NBA Finals -- part of the hallowed "Last Dance" season for  Jordan that culminated with the Chicago Bulls reigning victorious over  the Utah Jazz -- has sold for US$10.1Million with auction house  Sotheby's. It  is the hghest ever paid for an item of sports memorabilia, surpassing  the US$9.3M paid in May for late soccer legend Diego Maradona's "Hand of  God" jersey from the 1986 World Cup. The  "Last Dance" jersey marked Jordan's sixth and final NBA championship --  and his record sixth NBA Finals MVP award -- before he retired for the  second time. In London – people from all walks of life and from all around the world are paying their respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II. David  Beckham joined the monstrous queue at 2am this morning to see the Queen  lying in state, buying doughnuts for everyone around him, all waiting  for over 12 hours to pay their respects. Tyson Fury honoured Queen Elizabeth II by laying flowers outside Buckingham Palace. The card read: "To Our Queen, Great may your bed be in Heaven, Love from Tyson and Paris xx Gypsy King x." He’s the man! For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you!
