Description
Bula and welcome to Season 2 Episode 10 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports highlights on this lazy Sunday morning 10 July 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. A disjointed Flying Fijians side lost 32-18 to Australia A in Lautoka, Fiji yesterday afternoon. Too much individual play and very poor games from both flyhalves Teti Tela and Ben Volavola were the obvious problems for the Pacific Nations Cup favourties. In the early game, Samoa came from behind to thump Tonga 35-18 for the Tongan’s second straight loss while Manu Samoa remain undefeated. Meanwhile in Women’s Oceania Rugby Team Fijiana absolutely thrashed 152-0 Papua New Guinea in NZ yesterday and Samoa beat Tonga 25-18. Ireland created history last night beating the All Blacks in New Zealand for the first time ever 23-12, taking full advantage after the hosts lost Prop Angus Ta'avao to an unfortunate red card in the first half in Dunedin. Irish Prop Andrew Porter scored two tries and skipper Johnny Sexton added 13 points off the tee. Six years after their first victory over New Zealand in more than a century of trying, Ireland has now won four of their last seven Tests against the three-times World champions. In other Test rugby results: the Wallabies 17-25 England, the Springboks 12-13 Wales, Japan 15-20 France and Argentina to sambuca Scotland this morning. One more Pasifika rugby highlight - Tonga will play Hong Kong in a Rugby World Cup playoff on Australia's Sunshine Coast on 23 July, after Hong Kong won the Asian title, beating South Korea 23-21. And in the NRL - the Eels survived a scare from Wests Tigers who eventually lost 28-20 at Leichhardt Oval last night. The Eels ran in two tries while they had the extra man advantage and when Mitchell Moses scored soon after the break, the Eels had a lead that proved unassailable in the end. Finally in football - Eight-time Champions Germany started their EURO Women's 2022 title bid trashing Denmark 4 nil. Meanwhile England Women had talks with manufacturers Nike due to concerns over playing in their white shorts during their periods. Later, the FA and Nike issued a statement pledging to take the issue into consideration going forward The only advice I can offer is “focus girls focus – the Germans are coming”.
