Description

Talofa, Ma’lele’i, Bula and welcome to Season 05 Episode 30 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a cloudy by bright Tuesday morning 02 May 2023. Coming to you from paradise, on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! In rugby union: A world record crowd of 58,498 supporters watched England win the Women’s Six Nations by defeating France 38-33 in a thrilling finale at Twickenham, the home of English rugby union. One day soon Team Fijiana will play England at Twickenham. How about our Samoan and Tongan sisters? In rugby league: BIG weekend coming up at Suncorp, with the Broncos welcoming back Payne Haas and Ezra Mam for Round 10. Haas will take up his spot in the front row, leaving Kevin Walters to choose between Corey Jensen, Martin Taupau and Keenan Palasia for the front row rotation. Meanwhile, Mam will replace Jock Madden at five-eighth. And while Scott Drinkwater and Coen Hess are free to play against the Roosters, after taking early guilty pleas, Jeremiah Nanai is out for four weeks for a hip drop tackle which sees him also miss Origin I. Melbourne meanwhile enjoyed the bye in Round 9 which could see Eliesa Katoa return from an ugly head knock for their Round 10 clash against South Sydney on Saturday night without missing a game. Tough guy, Tui Kamikamica is still out on suspension. In SportsBiz: First-round picks secure life-changing contracts at the NFL Draft, from as high as No 1: US$41.2Million with US$26.9M signing bonus, down to the last first-round pick No. 31 at US$12.7M and US$6.2M signing bonus. In boxing: Seeking to resolve a long dispute with Olympic officials, the International Boxing Association said on Monday it will update the IOC this week and no longer has Russian energy giant Gazprom as a sponsor. The International Olympic Committee cut ties with the sport’s governing body in 2019 and is planning for a second straight Olympic Games without the IBA’s involvement. USA Boxing terminated its IBA membership last week ahead of the Men’s World Championships in Uzbekistan, which is also being boycotted by teams including Britain, Canada and Ireland. In football: Chelsea obviously have more money than sense – latest reports from British media say they have set their sights on signing Neymar as part of a double Paris Saint-Germain transfer swoop this summer. Apparently, the Brazilian star’s future in Paris may be under question as he, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi have failed to deliver the Champions League. And finally, only in the USA: An 18-year-old baseball player is recovering in hospital after being hit in the chest during a game in Texas on Saturday afternoon by a stray bullet from a confrontation in the neighboring area 400M away. One man directly involved in the shooting, turned himself in and has been charged with deadly conduct. Police are hunting a 17-year-old man who they believe to be the other shooter. There have been 176 mass shootings in America so far this year – just saying. For TEIVOVOsports.com I’m Culden Kamea - Mahalo, vinaka and thank you.
