LSU football LB Harold Perkins is one of the best players in college football. Not just one of the best defensive players and not just one of the best players in the SEC; Harold Perkins is a top talent in the country. So why was he such a non-factor in the Tigers' first matchup of the season against Florida State?
Head coach Brian Kelly and defensive coordinator Matt House said throughout the season that they wanted to develop Perkins' game on the inside and move him from the outside to develop him as an inside linebacker on the weak side. That experiment was on full display against the Seminoles in Week 1 and it was a failure. Perkins was almost a non-factor in LSU's 45-24 loss notching zero sacks and just five tackles. But that's not on Harold, that's on the coaching staff. It is now up to the coaching staff to move him back to his rightful spot on the outside.
