The LSU Tigers won its first ever basketball national title when head coach Kim Mulkey led the women's team to a 102-85 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes. At the conclusion of the game LSU standout Angel Reese put her hand up to Iowa star Caitlin Clark and pointed to her ring finger where her national championship ring will soon sit. Since then, there has been an enormous amount of backlash coming from some of the biggest names in media, from Barstool's Dave Portnoy condemning Reese to Fox Sports' Shannon Sharpe defending her.
Reese's gestures were controversial and however one might feel about how she acted at the end of the game is totally justified. Nonetheless, it got the people talking and that has done wonders for the exposure for Reese, the LSU women's basketball program, the LSU athletic department, and women's basketball as a whole.
