Today we will discuss is olive oil really good for weight loss and how can we use it the right way so you can burn fat with fat.
Olive oil contains monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) and in particular Oleic Acid found in Olive oil and this Oleic Acid is converted to oleoylethanolamide also known as OEA and this is exactly how I will call it from now on and this is the most important component in the Olive oil for weight loss so let’s explain how it works a bit more.
Research has connected OEA with weight loss in a couple of different ways.
For instance, according to a 2017 study published in the journal Physiology & Behavior, OEA helps reduce food intake by the way it interacts with dopamine, a neurotransmitter that is responsible for carrying signals from one brain cell to another.
But how does it work?
OEA binds to a very well-known nuclear receptor called PPAR-Alpha in various cell types in the body, and increases the metabolism of fat in those cells, hence reducing the fat content in the body, thus resulting in weight loss.
Ok, so OEA binds to the PPAR-Alpha receptor in cells in the body and this binding increases the metabolism of fat in those cells so you lose weight. OEA also binds to the same PPAR-Alpha receptor in nerve cells or neurons, specifically, the vagus nerve.
