It was one of the busiest days for the Cleveland Guardians in a long time. When was the last time they made one trade on a day let alone two? On top of multiple moves, Terry Francona also took home the manager of the year award for the third time in his time as the manager of the Cleveland Guardians. We touch on winning another piece of hardware. Then we get into the most surprising move of the day. The Guardians traded Nolan Jones, a former top prospect in the entire system to the Colorado Rockies for a player currently rated 30th in their system. In fairness, he would have been higher at the end of the year rerack. We explain why the Guardians traded power for contact and why they added another middle infielder to acquire a player who has never played above low A. Next up is the second trade of the day. Carlos Vargas has had a lot of hype for a long time in the Guardians system. So how did a guy who some thought could be a number one or a dominant closer end up getting traded for a recent draft pick who hit AA this year? We get into what has worked and not worked for Vargas in recent years and why the Guardians targeted Ross Carver as a player they wanted to add to their system. We get into what is liked about the profile and why there is a chance he could be the top player in this trade in a few years.

Angel Martinez was a no-brainer and is one of the top 10 prospects in the system. Joey Cantillo was left off a year ago and has only pitched half a season in the last three but we get into why he was a no-brainer as well. Then we spend some time on Tim Herrin who has ascended from a 29th-rounder the 883 player in his draft class to the 40-man roster. His change is remarkable from a control lefty who didn’t miss bats to a dominant reliever striking out nearly 15 batters per nine innings in AA this year.
