Description

This week, your host D sits down with Amy Hehre, PA. She is CEO and Founder of OVI Children’s Hospital in western Kenya. We discuss what led her to build a hospital in Kenya and her future plans for it. The beauty of OVI is that they provide long term care for children and orphans and then reunite them with their families. Their staff is entirely Kenyan and they’re very protective of their patients and residents. We discuss patient safety in the age of social media and how we continue to learn from mistakes. Lots to dig into on this episode and some very sensitive subjects, but Amy encourages us to dream big and then do something bigger!

The WoMed is a space to discuss, debate, and celebrate all things Women in Medicine! Danielle Maltby is joined by co-host Jackie Camardo to bring new issues and faces to light in the medical community. These nursing vets bring humor, reality, and a serious passion for the world around them to discussions on self-care, emerging healthcare trends, education, activism, patient stories, and pop culture representation of the industry. The hosts welcome not just women in medicine, but members of the LGBTQ communities in medicine as well, to ensure more people have a platform to amplify their voices. They are also joined by some of the industry’s biggest experts and thought-leaders! Nothing is off-limits, so listeners should come prepared to laugh, (maybe cry), and tune in to meaningful conversations that could change the way you see healthcare.
