Description

Today on The WoMed, cardiologist turned singer-songwriter, Suzie Brown (@suziebrownsongs), joins D and Dani to talk music, medicine, and following your passions. Growing up, Suzie always loved music but was shy about her talent and kept mostly to herself. She decided to follow in her parent’s footsteps by going to medical school and focusing on her strengths of science and math, but she couldn’t match the sense of belongingness she felt when making music with others and ultimately decided music was a passion worth pursuing. She now works part-time in cardiology while raising her children and still making time for music, recently releasing her sixth studio album! Suzie gives incredible advice on how to be the best doctor, how to prioritize during different season of life, and listening to yourself.

The WoMed is a space to discuss, debate, and celebrate all things Women in Medicine! Danielle Maltby is joined by co-host Jackie Camardo to bring new issues and faces to light in the medical community. These nursing vets bring humor, reality, and a serious passion for the world around them to discussions on self-care, emerging healthcare trends, education, activism, patient stories, and pop culture representation of the industry. The hosts welcome not just women in medicine, but members of the LGBTQ communities in medicine as well, to ensure more people have a platform to amplify their voices. They are also joined by some of the industry’s biggest experts and thought-leaders! Nothing is off-limits, so listeners should come prepared to laugh, (maybe cry), and tune in to meaningful conversations that could change the way you see healthcare.
