Inside today's Locked on Canadiens:

The regular season is just over a month away, so the hosts are doing an extremely early best guess at what they think the Montreal Canadiens opening night roster will look like.

It's Jake Allen's net with Carey Price out, at least until the NHL Trade Deadline. However, can Cayden Primeau supplant Samuel Montembeault with a strong preseason performance after a dynamic playoff run with the Rocket? Or is the young netminder destined for the AHL regardless of his preseason play?

On defence the Canadiens are heavy on left side defensive prospects, with Jordan Harris, Kaiden Guhle and Mattias Norlinder all pushing for one available starting spot. Who will slot in behind the veterans Joel Edmundson and Mike Matheson? Which of those two is the top left D on the team anyways? On the right side, can Justin Barron take another step forward in his development, or are Habs fans prepared for another season of David Savard as the top pairing option?

Finally, there's almost too many forwards in the NHL right now what does that mean for the first overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky, or is the Slovak able to beat out some of the veteran options? Where do all the centres fit with the new additions of Kirby Dach and Sean Monahan? Are fan favourites Michael Pezzetta and Rem Pitlick going to hold their spots, or is there something special up the sleeves of Kent Hughes in terms of a trade to bring new bodies in?
