Description
Inside today's Locked on Canadiens:
It's a debate on whether or not the Montreal Canadiens are actually one of the five worst teams in the NHL! Coming off a last place finish, and the first overall pick, has Kent Hughes improved Montreal enough to get them out of the cellar? The hosts take a look at all the reasons why they won't finish in the bottom five again first. Chief among them is the fact that head coach Martin St. Louis will have had an entire off-season and preseason to mold the Habs into the team he wants. Also, the team should hopefully not be as catastrophically injured, which should help Montreal climb slightly out of the cellar.
On the other side of the coin, the team hasn't really changed all that much in terms of roster construction, and there are a lot of questionable pieces still on the team. If St. Louis cannot continue his own run of improving players on the team, what will happen? Also, the goaltending remains a serious question mark, and the defence is still loaded with young, but unproven talent, can they hold it together for the entire season?
To end the show, the hosts try to figure out the upcoming Atlantic Division, and where they think the Habs will inevitably rank among the eight teams. Despite both hosts saying that Montreal is likely to finish last, they both agree that they could easily move out of last place as well. Scott and Laura also wonder where the Bruins will end up with their injuries, and with the return of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.
