Description

In this episode of the plant remedy podcast, Bailey sits down with world renowned Dr. Joel Fuhrman, M.D. He is a 7 times New York Times best-selling author and expert on nutrition and natural healing. He focuses on preventing and reversing disease through nutritional methods.
They dive into Dr Fuhrman’s early childhood and his history of studying and researching nutrition. His father who struggled with back pain, searched for answers from many specialists and doctors, but never found any real answers to the problem. Just bandages to the symptoms. It was through one book that lead into many more books based on nutrition to heal your body, that he and his father began diving into. That through food, you can change your life. Joel would sit along side his father at a young age and read these books that were focused on nutrition and eating healthfully.
Years later, his father healed himself, and was a new person. Seeing the power of diet first hand, helped drive the passion in Joel on healthy eating and nutrition. Dr. Fuhrman talks about his life from his younger years and his life’s experiences until he went to school to be a physician in specialized nutritional medicine. Once he graduated, he began his journey of writing his findings of the connection between nutrition and health into books.
Bailey talks with Joel about becoming a family physician with a background in nutrition. This way we could do something he enjoyed and help as many people as possible. Through his journey he was able to create a center in San Diego to help people come to as a retreat. For a couple weeks people come and heal themselves and learn better eating habits to take back with them afterwards. Through all these outlets, Dr. Fuhrman has helped over hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.
Dr. Fuhrman gives his insight and passion on his accomplishments of helping people learn to heal through food. He also talks about the challenges he faced with people individually, with opening a center, writing his books, and much more.
They chat about how people have their beliefs systems around nutrition, food addictions, and the psychology of food. He shares facts on nutrition in America and health statistics that are eye opening. All these unhealthy diets are causing Americas chronic diseases like diabetes, cancer, and illnesses to skyrocket more than ever.
He shares his insight on salts, oils, sugars, and the benefits of reducing your intake.
Lastly, he shares his answers of having children and dealing with societal pressures. Also, he shares his answers and expertise on high blood pressure including facts that are very promising for anyone on high blood pressure medication.
