Description

Join us for an informal, inclusive discussion about cultural humility, and how it fosters culturally-sensitive trauma-informed care. Research suggests that in a multicultural world where power imbalances exist, cultural humility is a process of openness, self-awareness, and incorporating self-reflection when interacting with diverse individuals. The results of [practicing] cultural humility are mutual empowerment, respect, optimal care, and lifelong learning. Cultural humility helps us better understand (and disrupt) barriers to more effective, humane, equitable, and collaborative person-centered care. This training will review what we know about culturally-sensitive care, and explore the humble wisdom of identifying and cultivating what we don’t know.
