Description

Once again, the I Love Madison team is back with another great episode that highlights the amazing community of Madison, Wisconsin! In the “On Mission” segment, Chris Sorensen talks with a foster care champion about her family's experience of helping to love and nurture foster care kids in the community. Her story is an inspiring one! You'll enjoy hearing the perspective of a brand new resident in the “My Move” segment from Chris Reese, then Neil Mathweg interviews The Piano Gal Marta Hensen to talk about her shop, her love of old pianos, and how she is connecting the community through music! The Game of Magnets is in full swing! There are so many great reasons why you should play the Game of Magnets! There are tons of Madison residents who have already joined and are on the search for more magnets around the city! After you receive your magnet, you can register it on social media, then keep an eye out for other magnets around the city. If your magnet or a magnet you have registered gets selected, you win some great prizes to local places around the city! Chris Sorenson hosts the “ On Mission” segment, with Guest Sarah Gabriel Every day, foster families in Wisconsin make a difference in children's lives by providing safe and caring temporary homes. Sarah Gabriel is a foster care champion here in Madison, and she joins Chris Sorenson to talk about the rewarding, challenging life of a foster care parent. Sarah and her husband Keith had always talked about the possibility of hosting foster care kids. They started out as respite or short-term foster parents. At one point, they had three boys stay with them for six months before they were placed with family. Sarah says her own children are close to the foster kids that have stayed in their home. The decision to become a foster care parent is not one to be taken lightly - it takes a champion like Sarah to love and support kids like they are her own. If you have ever considered becoming a foster care parent, there is a tremendous need here in Dane County. Check out the Dane County Foster Care website for more information on how you can get involved! Chris Reese hosts the “My Move” segment with Guest Dougan This episode’s “My Move” segment features Dougan, a guy who has moved his family around the country a bit. He’s lived in Arizona as well as Nashville Tennessee and has recently moved to Madison, WI. He says out of all the places he's lived Madison is his favorite. When Chris asks him why he points to lots of things: the myriad of things to do, great food, entertainment that is world class, and many other things you wouldn't expect to find in Madison. You'll enjoy hearing the perspective of a brand new resident, on this episode. The Piano Gal, Marta Hansen is connecting the community through music! Marta Hansen, a Sun Prairie native, is the owner of The Piano Gal Shop. Marta has a Music Education Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has years of experience as a teacher, musician, and piano tuner. She is passionate about music and strives to share that passion with the community! After teaching music for six years, she decided to start her own music shop.
