Dedication
I dedicate this book of poetry
to my two children, Angela and Noel,
who are the living extensions of
my heart, soul, spirit, body, mind,
life, and love.
Acknowledgments
Over the past fifty-five years, I have crossed paths with many people; without whom, these poems might have never been written, or possibly published.
Some of those people have become very close to me, establishing deeply bonded roots of friendship. To my extremely closest and precious friends - Linda, Kathy, Ron, Lori, Sharon, Shari and Rose – I wish to express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude for their continued support and encouragement. They have often been my tower of strength and beacons of light, along with my spiritual beliefs. They are, indeed, my network system in life.
My children have filled my heart with proud memories and joy throughout. They are my natural lifeline. Through their love, they have helped to establish, enhance, and perpetuate my eternal light of life, creating it to shine brightly.
With an added touch of warmth and affection, special appreciated thanks are extended to my one and only son-in-law, Tony, my daughter's husband. His willingness to devote, with painstaking care, both his time and energy to typeset this book, preparing it in manuscript form, enabled the expedition of publication. I find Tony to be an admirable young man to have accomplished such a task.
And last, but certainly not least, are my family members, consisting of uncles, aunts, cousins, especially Pam, grandparents, and parents. Some have remained very close and dear to my heart. Some have passed away, such as both sets of grandparents, both parents and several uncles and aunts. All of which helped to love, guide, teach, support me, both mentally and physically, even sometimes financially, over the years.
In my youth, a set of values and principles were established and learned which helped to create who I am, and what I believe in today. Because I was an only child, without you all, my foundation would have been weak. Special loving thanks to all of my family members who have passed away, especially both sets of my Yayias and Papous (Greek for grandmother and grandfather), including both of my parents, all of my uncles and aunts, except for two, my cousin Pam, who survived her parents and my Uncle Bill, whose words of encouragement were, Follow your dreams, Sophia.
To you all, individually you possess qualities that have stimulated me throughout my life. You all are truly not ordinary; on the contrary, you are all extraordinary. It has been my honor to know you all, you have all been blessings to me, and you make me proud.
With love,
Thank you, one and all, for your credence,
Sophia

Introduction
Actually, I began writing at the early and tender age of ten. Some may consider that to be surprising. Looking back, it becomes very clear how it all evolved.
My father, George Johnides, started me on a
