Muffin, Puffin, and Tuffin Find a Purse

One fine, sunny day, Muffin, Puffin, and Tuffin asked their mother if they could go to the park. Yes, she said, but come home in time for lunch.

So off they went. They had fun playing on the swings and slides and merry-go-round—even on the monkey bars! In fact, they were having such a good time they forgot Mama's warning about going home for lunch.

Mama looked at the clock and thought they should be home by now. Maybe I'd better go to the park and pick them up, she thought. So she hopped into her van and headed to their favorite spot. Seeing their unhappy faces, Mama said, If your chores are finished and if you do a good job, I'll let you go back to the park before dinner.

Hearing that, Muffin, Puffin, and Tuffin perked up and did a great job with the work they'd been given. This time, they agreed to be home no later than five-thirty since dinner was at six.

Muffin, Puffin, and Tuffin hoped they would find some kids so they could play ball, but when they got to the park no one was out in the field. They headed instead to the playground to wait and see if others would join them later for a ballgame. They
