Sandra Stoner-Mitchell

Sandra started writing at an early age, but only recently began to write seriously. Her first book is a book of children's stories, fully illustrated and all in rhyme, called 'Hedgerow Capers' which was published by Melrose Press. After this she decided to take the self-published route and went on to publish 'A Collection of Short Stories', a book of short coffee-time stories for adults and also her first book of poetry called 'Spiritual Moments'. She has now self-published three more books for children in the Hedgerow Capers Series, 'The Day Before Christmas Eve', 'The Fun Begins' and 'A Spot of Bother' and promises there are more adventures with the Hedgerow Gang to come. Her latest book 'Casper the Caterpillar' is a delightful book aimed at very young children and her husband Graham has done a wonderful job of illustrating it.

Christmas School Holiday Begins

Down in Hedgerow Village everyone is getting really excited. Today is the last day at school before Christmas.

Miss Freda the Frog, the school’s teacher, looked over the top of her spectacles at all her little pupils sitting at their desks. She gave a little smile. They were all looking at the big clock hanging on the wall above the blackboard.

Soon the big bell would ring, noisily clanging away to tell everyone it was time to pack up their books and go home for the Christmas holiday.

Miss Freda stood up and said to them all, I think we can pack up our books a tiny bit earlier today, don’t you?

The moment teacher said that, they quickly put their books inside their desks and clambered to their feet.

Have a lovely Christmas, everyone. Miss Freda called out.

Happy Christmas, Miss Freda, the children all called back, then as fast as their little legs could take them, they dashed out of the classroom into the playground.
