    Mean

    The dawn crept in, a pale blush on the pane,

    A tiny hand, a flutter, a soft strain.

    My eyes fluttered open, met a sight so sweet,

    A fragile face, a newborn's incomplete.

    You whispered promises, a future bright,

    Of sleepless nights, but love that burns so white.

    We cradled dreams, of laughter, tiny steps,

    A perfect family, where love never slept.

    But shadows lurked, beneath your charming smile,

    A flicker cold, a heart that seemed on trial.

    The weight of life, a burden you'd not share,

    The weight of love, a cross you couldn't bear.

    The crib cried out, a symphony of need,

    A hungry plea, a silent, urgent creed.

    You flinched away, from duties yet unseen,

    A hollow echo, where a father should have been.

    The nights grew long, a battlefield of tears,

    My weary body, racked with endless fears.

    The weight of love, a burden on my soul,

    A fractured dream, that started to take toll.

    I'd sing you lullabies, beneath the moon's soft glow,

    While empty promises, in whispered voices flow.

    The baby cooed, a sound so pure and bright,

    A beacon in the darkness, of a love that burns so white.

    But dawn would break, revealing cracks so deep,

    The fragile trust, a promise hard to keep.

    Excuses spun, a web of tangled lies,

    The father in your eyes, slowly began to die.

    One day you left, a silent, swift goodbye,

    A single tear, escaped my tear-stained eye.
