About this ebook

Fate draws our collective heroes together when the High Council of Lyandrica hosts a contest with a mound of highly coveted eldrymettalum as a prize—a treasure sure to draw the eyes of even the drider's forces in the Obsidian Grotto. But when a dragon attack derails the warriors, they meet their true enemy: Morvaine the Slave Taker… and she is one of Melkior's kind, a Dragonlord.

While dragons ravage Lyandrica, the collected heroes earn the title of Gods'own from a Sage who reveals there is more to this encounter than mere chance. The will of gods and goddesses are at play, and only one side can prevail in this encounter—either life and the forces of Nature, or wicked god whose name must not be uttered… the one known simply as Death.

Can the newly formed Gods'own Champions defeat Death's herald and rescue the gnomes? Can they defeat the corps of slavers without razing Lyandrica in the process?

This exciting, new 12-story event in the Esfah Sagas begins the Godmaker story arc and is also known as Time of the Champions. Start this epic journey today!

Starkor, a gray-skinned elf, tromped through the meadow as loudly as he could, making every effort to draw attention to himself and to the blue-skinned elf at his side and one pace behind him.

The creature following Starkor was a selumari, a coral elf, and he wore armor and vestments of the royal guard. One emblem emblazoned upon his shoulder pauldron identified him as the captain of the guard. Starkor was not unfamiliar with Leisterbane.

I’m sure they are around here somewhere, Starkor told the guard.

Leisterbane merely fixed the ash-gray frehlasuhl with a silent glower.

Starkor was pretty certain that his guest did not like him. For that matter, he was sure that Leisterbane did not like anyone, except for members of the royal house. He’d always been such a self serious elf.

Yes, Starkor spoke at a higher volume than normal. I’m sure they went this way a short while ago, Leisterbane. I’m sure your business is urgent, but if you leave a message with me, I will see that Melkior gets it.

The blue elf waded into the tall grasses. King Silverleaf is calling a council, and I intend to see that his daughter is there. I don’t give a shit about Melkior. He can come or not.

Without warning, a figure rose from the heather, which stood as tall as her waist.

Leisterbane frowned at her. There you are, Princess Ailushurai. Your father has need of you.

    Now?

She tried her best not to look disheveled, although her clothes appeared hastily donned, and she had a grass stain on her dress. Ailushurai blew from the corner of her mouth, trying to dislodge a stray blade of grass that clung to the side of her face.

Leisterbane sighed. Yes, princess. You and that… eldarim are leading the king’s efforts against the slavers and on his advisory council for gnomish relations.

Melkior suddenly rocketed to his feet, causing Leisterbane to scowl and exhale through his nostrils in an effort to calm himself. He’d not disguised his dislike of the eldari hero—especially in the not-so-secret romance between him and the princess.

Starkor sighed. If there had been any attempts at disguising their tryst as anything else, they’d clearly abandoned it at that moment.

I am coming, Melkior told him as he adjusted his belt.

Leisterbane didn’t even look at the man. Instead, he took the princess by the elbow to escort her back to Melkior’s tower keep, where they could ride their horses back to the Lurneville castle.

She complied and followed, with Melkior and Starkor trailing a step behind.

You have been away for two days now, Leisterbane said.

Ailushurai flashed him a roguish grin. "So what? You are not
