About this ebook

I am Amalthea Jade, the daughter of the prestigious Matthew and Thea Jade. My parents died in a rogue attack, and the only hope I had was my chosen mate, Blake Cohl.
I thought I got all the happiness in the world when I got married to him, but on my wedding night, he brought his fated mate to our wedding room. The mate, he can't reject.
I would've let go of her if she hadn't provoked me, and naturally, I did what anyone would've done in a situation like this. I attacked her.
There's a rule that if any person attacks another person without a reason, then he/she is punished with 20 whippings, but since I am the luna, I was given another option, apologize to my husband's fated mate.
Bow down and apologize to the person who took away my happiness? He must be joking.
Rather than bowing, I took not 20 but 50 whippings to remember this humiliation for the rest of my life.
Feeling tired, I decided to leave, as my father also thought that Blake was the better alpha than me. But as I was leaving, I came to know that my parents' deaths weren't just a normal rogue attack case. It was more than that.
The plan was simple. Avenge my parents, the humiliation I suffered, and start afresh, but what am I supposed to do when the Lycan king starts tailing me?
How the hell am I supposed to react when he says he wants to marry me, and that he will destroy everything in my world if I keep refusing him? Not to mention how he hates me.
"I can't marry you because I hate all the males with the alpha syndrome, and I am already married," I barked at him.
"And? I don't see why that's a problem. Let me make it clear, Amalthea. I want you, and I will do anything to get you, even if it means I will have to turn this world upside down," He smirked.
How am I supposed to get on with my plans like this? Not to mention the rogue head who is strangely interested in my matters more than I am.
Oh, and did I mention I was in the process of awakening my powers that even I didn't know of?

The Luna's Vengeance - Angelina Bhardawaj

Chapter 85 Alexander did a background check on me?

    AMALTHEA'S POV

I - I - I started before taking a deep breath and opening my eyes, ready to fight the person who held my hand.

Holding the hand holding me in place from behind the pillar, I was about to push the man away when he suddenly pulled me closer, hugging me from behind.

If I were you, rather than pushing the man who has come to save you, I would hold on to him for dear life, The man said coldly, and I finally recognized his voice.

Alexander? What is he doing here?

Come with me, He said with a dark look in his eyes, and before I could even blink my eyes, with the speed of light, he brought me out of the dungeons within a few seconds, placing me on the ground gently, making me widen my eyes at him as I finally turned around.

Wait. How does he know the path out of the dungeons? I am sure this isn’t the front or back of the dungeon. Unless he has also seen the detailed blueprint, there is no way he would know about it. Does that mean he was also - No. He was here with the alpha. He can’t be here to steal something. Maybe he just enquired about it because it’s his way of doing work.

Who the hell are you? How the hell did you know about this route? You are not a normal demon, right? A normal demon can’t have this kind of speed, I said, and he glared at me before tilting his head.

Are you sure this is the thing you should say to someone who saved your life just now? Shouldn't it be something along the lines of thank you, my lord? I would repay you with my life, or I am going to marry you? He said, and I scoffed.

Who asked for your help? I would've done just fine, I said before looking at the forests, and he smirked.

Ungrateful much? He asked me, and I sighed before turning around.

Thank you, my lord. Please tell me how I should repay you. How much money do you want? I asked, and he quirked his brows.

Rather than paying me with money, why don't you accompany me for the night? Dinner, I mean. I was there to talk about a very important business deal. Your appearance not only hindered my work, but I had to stop to save you, too. Now let's go out of here before talking about other things, he said, and before I could nod, he bent before picking me up and running again.

Once we were out of the pack, he stopped in front of a hotel, and I looked at him, making him place me on the ground.

Boss, this - A man suddenly started, but Alexander just turned towards him, making him immediately shut up.

Boss, the alpha is busy handling things. He asked about your whereabouts, and I told him they displeased us about what happened in the dungeons, and we don't want to get entangled in their mess, another man said, and Alexander nodded.

Good job. If he calls to know whether the deal is still on or not, remind me about it. I will be in my room. Show the lady the guest room. Let's meet after we freshen up, Alexander said, and I was about to tell him I wanted to go back to my hotel when he glared at me, his earlier smugness vanishing in an instant, making me feel a bit uneasy.

Honestly, I didn't know you were this stupid, he said to me before scoffing and going away, leaving me confused with messed-up thoughts of what he meant.

Did he just call me stupid? Is it because I tried to steal from the Black blood pack? I thought before following the man silently.

What would I change into? My clothes - I started, but before I could even end my sentence, a pair of shorts and a t-shirt were placed on my bed gently, making me quirk my brows.

These are provided by sir. He said they are fresh, the man said before leaving, making me look at the other man, who was probably his right-hand subordinate, as he is always with him.

You are lucky, miss. Our sir has never risked anything for someone before, let alone a trillion dollars deal, the subordinate said, and I nodded before sitting on the bed after he left, feeling troubled.

A trillion dollars deal? Why would he risk all of that for me? Is this demon so good? I thought before looking at the clothes, smiling helplessly, when I noticed how big it was for me.

After taking off the dirty clothes, I looked at the rare gem that shone again, making me hold it away from my face, and I was perplexed to see how it was making my bracelet shine along with it. Is it some kind of gem bond? I chuckled before shaking my head and wrapping it neatly in my handkerchief and top.

After bathing, I went out of the room, feeling a bit shy in the clothes I was wearing, as it was making me feel embarrassed at how small I looked in them.

The t-shirt was reaching my mid-thighs while the shorts were reaching my knees. Though I was a good 5'10", the clothes were still big for me, and I couldn't help but look away as I passed through some men.

Can you call Alexander? I said to the man who had brought the clothes, and as if I said something taboo, everyone around me started looking at me with weird gazes.

Everyone leave the room, I suddenly heard a cold order from above the stairs, making me look up at the man, whose gaze was fixated on his men.

Guard the house from outside. I don't want a single man inside, Alexander said before descending the stairs, making me look at him as I noticed his figure for the first time.

For a demon who are known for their evil ways and ugly heart, he is quite a rare one with such a good physique and helpful nature.

Once everyone left the room, he sat on the couch leisurely before motioning me to sit down.

What is your deal? He asked me coldly, and I squinted my brows.

What do you mean? I asked, confused.

Well, you've got to be one of the stupidest and brave girls I have ever met. You challenge authorities all the time without even a tint of fear. Do you not fear death? How could you enter their dungeons alone just like that? I get that you were there to steal something, but you should've left immediately after doing it. But what did you do? You freed a prisoner and stood like a statue in front of another prisoner, he paused before bending towards me and looking at me observantly.

Just what the hell did you want to do? Free all their prisoners? Were you looking for a new feud? He asked, and I looked away, biting my lips as I remembered the sour sigh of lady Cera.

I don't think it's any of your business, I said before looking away to prevent him from seeing my tears.

You are seriously a character that I find really hard to understand, Alexander said, and I looked at him.

Likewise, I said, and he smiled before standing and going towards the kitchen.

Bringing in a few plates containing food, I don't know if it was just my paranoia, but I couldn't help squinting my brows as I noticed all the dishes on the table were the ones I liked.

Are you a vegetarian? I asked.

No, but you are, he said, and as if he made a slip-up, he quickly looked away, and seeing him like this, I said nothing else, but that doesn't mean I didn't add him to my list of the people I need to search.

After having dinner in silence while talking about nothing in particular, we sat in his car as he insisted on escorting me to the hotel personally.

As we were going toward the hotel, he received a phone call, and he looked at me before ending the call, making me even more curious about him.

Why did you save me? Even risking your deal, I said, and he shrugged.

I liked your personality from the moment I saw you. To be honest, I even had someone know about your background, which I must mention is a little strange as you are nothing like what your background describes. Not to mention how little is available about you, as if you are deliberately hiding it. Anyway, I didn't want such an interesting personality to get killed so quickly, He said, and I won't lie that I didn't like how he was honest with me about the background check and other things. I appreciated his honesty.

At least it makes sure that he doesn't harbor any ill intentions towards me, or that's what I think.

Chapter 86 Alexander is a bit suspicious

    AMALTHEA'S POV

Don't worry. Everything will be alright, I heard Alexander speak as he placed his hand on top of mine, and I looked at him, waiting for his explanation, and he sighed.

It's written all over your face. Something is bugging you, and you are quite worried about it, right? Alexander said, and I hummed before smiling.

It's nothing, I said before stepping down from the car once it stopped in front of the hotel I was living in.

Are you worried about that prisoner? The prisoner because of whom you almost risked your life today? The one you were looking at as if she was someone important to you? He asked, and I looked at him before sighing.

He was too observant for his own good.

Have a safe journey back, I said, not bothering to answer him as I nodded and turned around, my mind fixated on Lady Cera and her tortured body.

I had never thought I would see the lady who had once made sure I was always taken care of like this. She was like my nanny, who used to care for me when my mother was busy with the pack affairs.

There is no way I can let this go. I need to do something to go back to the pack and save that lady.

Well, that would be a very wrong decision to take after what you did today, I heard Alexander's voice from behind me, and I turned around.

Why didn't you leave yet? I asked as I saw him following me.

Well, I told you I am here to drop you off. Of course, I would drop you till you are safe inside, He said as he stepped close to me, and I squinted my brows.

How did you hear my thoughts just now? I asked, and he shrugged.

Because you were being very verbal about your thoughts. I am sure, not only me, but that man who passed just now also heard you, Alexander said, and somehow his piercing eyes were making me uneasy, and I couldn’t help as I stepped back from him.

Anyway, I'll be off now. Take care, beautiful. I don't want something bad to happen to you. Especially after I risked such a big business deal to save your a*s, He said before gripping my chin, and I looked at him with narrowed eyes.

Is it just me, or is he deliberately bringing that deal between us again and again to burden me?

Stop touching me without my permission, I said before swatting his hand away, and he smirked at me before bending to my eye level.

So you are saying you would give me permission to touch you next time? He asked, and I looked at him helplessly.

From what angle did he decipher that? Is something wrong with his brain? I thought as his arrogance reminded me of Augustus and suddenly feeling a pang in my heart as I missed him a little, I sighed before turning around.

Thanks for dropping me off. It was quite generous of you, I said through the corner of my eyes before walking inside the lobby, looking at him as I entered the lift.

Smiling at him, I pressed the button to my floor, dropping my facade as soon as the doors closed.

Sitting on the bed as I took out the red gem from my pocket, I safely placed it inside my duffle bag before lying on my back.

Only a few hours are left till the full moon, and if what Sophia has said is right, then this would be really painful for me. Can I really risk going inside the Black blood pack again to free Lady Cera? Especially after what happened tonight? What if I feel that unbearable pain when I am inside the pack? Not to mention how I would’ve to do this tomorrow night, which mean when the full moon will be on its course and Blake would be more eager to mate.

Though he is a bit annoying, Alexander was kind of right. I am sure the alpha of the pack will increase the security of the dungeons by three times at least.

If this rare gem is as precious as Brian and that prisoner mentioned, then I am sure he must've already checked for it in that rare item room, and since it's not there, I am sure they would be sending a search party to look for it.

I can't free Lady Cera on my own anyway. There is no way I would be able to take her out with such risk when it would be hard to save my life itself. This time I got lucky and was able to get out even after making such a big mistake.

Alexander was right. At such a crucial time, I should've focussed on getting out of that prison rather than making such a big mistake by standing there and risking it all. If he wouldn't have been there, I would've surely been doomed.

Looking at the ceiling, I sighed, not liking that I made such a big mistake. If I had come out of the dungeons without being noticed, then the security wouldn't have been alerted, and I would've been able to enter again to save Lady Cera, but no. I had to stupidly risk it all.

'Stop beating yourself over it, Amalthea. You did your best. Even the strongest and most determined people are bound to lose their focus when they are faced with such turmoil. I hadn't even thought we would face someone like that. I was afraid for a second, but we should be okay with it since everything turned in our favor,' Crystal said, and I hummed before looking at the moon that was shining so brightly.

Packing my stuff, making sure I don't leave any hint about my presence behind, I booked a cab before descending the stairs.

I would have to walk for some distance as the cab will arrive at the borders of this village that is around 2 km away from here.

Taking my belongings, I walked out of the hotel after clearing my bills and pulling down my hat to make sure no one suspects me of anything.

As I was walking fast towards the border of the village, I squinted my brows when I saw a car passing by me.

Wait. Isn't that Alexander's car? I thought, biting my lips.

I know I keep pushing him away, but right now, I really wished he could drop me off at the border at least. Today's mission took a toll on me, and I was feeling too tired. Besides, as expected, the black blood pack's people have started to search around for anyone suspicious. What if someone had seen me accidentally? I can't take any risks. I thought before walking fast again.

'Now you are cursing him aloud? Who was the one who was feeling uneasy in his presence? Who was the one who called him a jerk?' Crystal said, and I scowled.

'Sometimes I wonder why you always take the guy's side whenever it's between me and some handsome guy,' I said, and she chuckled.

'So you agree he is handsome?' she asked, and I rolled my eyes.

'That's not even the point. My point is -'

Hey! You over there! Stop right now! Where are you going? Let us check your belongings before you go, A guy shouted from some distance, and I turned around with a troubled look when I saw three men walking toward me.

Damn. I was really thinking about leaving without making a scene. I thought before dropping my duffle bag softly.

Sure. What are you waiting for? Please hurry. My cab will be here soon, I said, and those men nodded with a more relaxed expression this time before walking toward me.

Why are you leaving at this hour? Don't you know it's not safe for girls? one of the men said as they neared me, and I smiled.

It's not safe for anyone, but I have an emergency, and since no cabs enter the village premises when booked from inside the village, I have to walk all the way to the borders, I said, and they nodded. As they neared me, I was about to bring out my dagger from behind me when a car stopped beside me.

Miss Am, will you stop your tantrum and get in the car? I heard Alexander's subordinate's voice, and I looked at the blurry silhouette of Alexander, who was sitting leisurely in the back seat.

Sir, do you know about this, Miss? The guy from the black blood asked the subordinate, and he nodded.

She is someone our sir is pursuing. She is quite stubborn and won't enter the car with sir. You already know it's not safe for girls, but she is one stubborn one, he said, and I looked at him with a confused expression before realizing he was saying all this to create a facade for us, and I looked at Alexander, who had an arrogant look on his face as he rolled down the window.

Am, get inside. We are already late, Alexander said, and I didn't miss how they were continuing with my fake name rather than taking my real name, which I was really grateful for.

    I -

Miss, why are you making such an important demon wait like this? You should go. He is right. It's not safe for girls, The man from black blood said again, and I nodded at them before smiling helplessly.

Yeah, thanks, I said before looking at Alexander, who got down from his car and took my hand in his before kissing the back of it.

After you, he said with a smirk before looking coldly at everyone.

Get the bags, he said, and once my bags were placed in the trunk of the car, they immediately sped, making me look at him quizzically.

You had left a couple of minutes ago, right? Why did you come back? I asked, and he looked out of the window.

I don't like to repeat myself, He said before closing his eyes, and I remembered him talking about how he don't want me dead after he risked his deal for my life.

Sighing loudly, I looked at his side profile one last time before placing my head on the window sill.

We'll drop you off near the junction of Cane city. You can go yourself after that. We'll be changing route from there, He spoke after some time, and I nodded before looking at my switched-off phone one last time and closing my eyes.

I am sure Augustus must be getting a bit edgy since he hasn't been able to reach me these past two and half days.

Chapter 87 Everyone is suspicious around me?

    AMALTHEA'S POV

Amalthea. Amalthea, I heard a faint voice before someone shook me, making me open my eyes as I looked around myself, before widening my eyes when I realized I was lying on Alexander's chest.

What the hell?! How did I end up here? I thought before distancing myself away from him as I sat straight.

It looks like you had a very nice sleep. Unfortunately, I couldn't sleep a wink since someone was adamant about hugging me and squeezing the life out of me, Alexander said, and I felt heat rising to my cheeks, guilty conscience settling in my heart.

"I don't know what you are talking. I am sure it's your trick. I was sleeping on this side with my head on the window sill. I am always careful of my surroundings and know to stay within my limits. Are you sure you weren't the one who pulled me towards himself while I was in a deep slumber? You
