    REUNITED

Guarded Omega Gets Second Chance with Handsome Alpha

    AVERY MIST

    To my readers

    CHAPTER ONE

It was a slow day at the restaurant, so Marla and I were chatting in the kitchen.

    Are you excited for Saturday?

Yes, I said with a grin. You’re probably more excited, though.

Marla grabbed my hands. She and I were both omegas, but she’d already found her man. Victor. He was an alpha who worked construction. Marla could only say good things about him, but I wrote that off as her infatuation talking. I didn’t know him too well.

You know I am, Sean, but we can still dance. Unless you find your alpha, of course.

There was no telling when I might find my alpha, but I also wasn’t looking very hard. Darkness lingered everywhere in the world, as present as the air we breathed. It was impossible for me to trust. As much as I wanted to open my heart, my mind wouldn’t allow it. I was too afraid.

Every alpha suitor who came my way failed to make an impression. They all had something wrong with them, and I was positive they wouldn’t respect my independence. I wasn’t about to become some subservient omega househusband. Not for some alpha who didn’t really love me, which is what would happen if I gave Jeff a chance.

Jeff was an alpha who worked with me on the line. He was an excellent cook, but he’d make a terrible husband. I could see darkness behind his eyes when he stared at me, probably imagining what I would look like if he could put me in a compromising position, which I would never let happen.

Marla leaned in close to whisper. Jeff will be there, and I know how much he wants you.

Jeff was looking at us from the other end of the line. He hadn’t made any advances since I rejected him last week for the third time, but I knew he’d try again. He couldn’t help himself. Jeff was one of those alphas who had a parade of omegas running through his bedroom. I wasn’t about to get on that train, though.

I dropped my gaze from Jeff’s and turned back to Marla. Gross, I said. You know he’s not for me.

Marla sighed and crossed her arms. Why can’t you just have a little fun? They make condoms and birth control for a reason. You don’t need to be so uptight.

Easy for you to say, I said in a huff. Didn’t you find Victor in like five seconds? Haven’t you guys been together for years?

Yeah, but we were having fun and using protection before any of that. You’re so all-or-nothing. You really need to let your guards down and have some fun, said Marla.

I wanted to scream at her, but then everyone would stare at me as though I’d lost my mind, so I took a deep breath as I tried to keep my cool. I clenched my jaw and asked Marla, don’t you have a table or something?

You’d better lose that attitude before my wedding, boy. I don’t want you bringing down the mood this weekend.

Hardly, Marla, I said in the bitchiest voice I could muster. I’m not some psycho.

"Sometimes I’m not so sure. How you can go
