Oh my God! I’m so excited for you guys. You’re going to love Maui!  You’re staying in Lahaina, right?  It’s so beautiful there. You’ve got to see the Banyan tree! Oh yeah and go snorkeling. Snorkeling is the best, you can see all the fish up close!

I stared at the side of Gary’s face from the back seat, annoyed by the driver’s over-the-top exuberance. I knew he felt me staring at him and was choosing to ignore me. I’d learned all his tricks in the three years we’d been together.

We appreciate the recommendation.  And the ride to the airport, he told the woman warmly. 

Her name was Michelle, the same as mine. I’d first met her after we’d both been kidnapped by the local mafia. I’d been kidnapped because I was working on a racketeering case for the FBI, and the mafia wanted to find out what I knew. Michelle had been kidnapped because she’d been impersonating me, thinking crime fighting was all a fun adventure to help her escape
