About this ebook

Fractured by the Weight is a five-chapter poetry collection that touches on the struggles endured in our day-to-day lives. The challenges of our youth, our mental health battles, dealing with grief due to the loss of a loved one, the scars we carry from past trauma, and the hope we find in seeking assistance from God. It encapsulates how the world spins when we hit rock bottom. Providing opportunities to seek redemption and extend gratitude, giving testimony to what the journey has been. And still could be if we decline to succumb to the despair that is our lives.

CHAPTER 1: MY YOUTH, MY CURSE

The transition from my teenage to my youthful years has been the most terrifying time in my life. I've never been more clueless, more lost. I live each day trying to find my path. Hoping all the dreams I had as a little girl come true. Working hard towards every goal I have. Sometimes I have it all sometimes I have nothing to hold on to. Living through days of being broke exhausted and tired. Being hopeless sometimes and trying to make beautiful memories of my youthful days. Having to stand on my own though my feet are so fragile.....

These are the pains of my youthful days in 8 pieces

    ––––––––

    1.

Oh, the glory of these days

Getting lost in living an illusion

The fear that comes with it

    The beauty of these days

    My youth, my sweet curse

It’s like I carry the weight of the world

    On my fragile little hands

    Dear future

Forgive me for my indecisiveness today

    Some days

    I'm walking on eggshells

    Scared and unaware

    Afraid of one wrong turn

    On others

    I only live once

    Taking my milk

    From a wine glass

    Days of my youth

    Scary defines fun

    What's there to lose??

    A dignified tomorrow perhaps

    But then again

How much can I really risk

    Drink from my cup today

    Light a torch

    On the path I walk

    You'd never understand

    My youth, my sweet curse

    And to every lover

    That promises me the universe

I've never felt like this before

    Sounds like a broken record

Don't we all love a beautiful lie???

    Forgive me mama

I get lost in the thrill

But if I was to watch my life on a big screen

I'd put these days on repeat

Those that I was a goner

And the ones I was full of life

Those that I was in love

And those that I was shattered

    Heart broken

    Finding myself

    Days of my youth

I'd play certain songs on repeat

Trying to take in the message

    More like trying to daydream

    Fit into the perfection

    Of the sweet melodies

As sweet as the unending magic

    Of my overflowing lines

And if my story is to be read someday

Don't omit the mistakes of my youth

    Yes, they broke me

    Yes, they shattered me

    But they molded me

In ways I could never tell

So I drown in this magic

Of inking a piece from the heart

My deepest secrets in symbolic expressions

    For these are the tales

    Of a poet’s deepest secrets

    2.

    Feet swollen

    From the thorns of yesterday

    I danced barefooted

    Up until the midnight hour

    Under the moonlight

    Hunted by the ghost

    Of my youthful days

    Smiling at the stars

I made a wish or two

    Flapped my wings so hard

    Watched the universe

    From unsober eyes

    Took another puff

Drowning deep in my youthful years

    Hoping the days pass by

    Maybe I'll figure life out

    My youth, my curse

    3.

    Sometimes the sun is cruel

Sometimes the rain drops bring floods

    Sometimes we watch bridges burn

    Sometimes we hold back tears

    Unable to express our fears

    We keep a lot inside

    Unable
