    Day 1

What a complicated situation we are in. Chief Derek, the leader of the local village, has ordered his workers to collect the radioactive Copper blocks from the tunnel.

The worst part about this is that Doctor Ivy warned Chief Derek about the dangers of removing it. Copper is unique to the Overworld and should never appear in the Nether.

It would be better and safer for all involved that we kept the radioactive blocks where they belonged – inside the Netherrack tunnel under Doom Mountain.

Chief Derek ignored her pleas and ordered the removal of the radioactive material. He claims the blocks are valuable and could be sold at a high price to Overworld buyers.

I am unsure whether Chief Derek’s greed was going to end up costing him more than he knows, but only time will tell. Personally, I hate the idea of seeing those dangerous blocks taken away from their spot.

We have already seen two human workers fall ill due to radiation, and now even Zack, our friend, has gotten sick upon touching the block.

The human doctors back in the village say Zack should be fine soon. Speaking of which, we are going to pay him a visit in a few hours.

I was the only one from our group who was with Zack when he touched the radioactive material. I should have prevented him from touching the mineral, but it’s too late for conjectures, and it’s time to focus on the future. What lies ahead with the radioactive Copper?

Come on now. Visiting time is from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tom said. We better hurry, or we won’t be getting there on time.

Yes, you are right. Nora replied. Let’s get going.

We spent most of our days at the lava river nearby. The tunnel was still under construction, and Heat Lake was across Doom Mountain. In the meantime, we could only hope for the tunnel’s completion and wait until the workers removed the infamous radioactive Copper out of the way.

As we made our way to the hospital, we had to step on land and walk for the remaining of our journey.

Ugh… walking on land is always the worst part. Tom replied, as he set foot on the solid blocks.

Tell me about it. I replied, following suit.

We slowly walked up to the right wing of the hospital and talked to one of the nurses at reception.

Excuse me. We’ve come here to visit our friend, Zack. It should not be hard to find him. He’s probably the only Strider in the hospital. Tom said.

Oh, right. Well, here’s the problem, Zack is asleep right now, he just had his medication. The nurse replied. Unfortunately, you cannot enter the room while he’s resting. He really needs to rest; it’s the best cure for radiation contamination.

I see… too bad. We really wanted to see how he was doing. I replied.

Maybe I can arrange that for you. Let me take you to his room, where you can look at him from the window. You may not enter as to not disturb his sleep, but at least you’ll see him. Would you want that?

Absolutely. Nora replied. Thank you so much, nurse.

No problem, please follow me. She said.

The kind nurse guided us through the busy hospital corridors. We saw humans with different conditions walking through the corridors. The place smelled like soup, and there was an eerie feeling in the air.

The nurse brought us in front of Zack’s room.

Zack is confined in this room. You may see him from the window over there. Please do not make any noises. The nurse asked.

Sure thing, we will let him sleep. Thank you again. I replied.

The nurse left us to attend to other patients. We could not do much, other than look at Zack through the window. He was peacefully resting, his eyes completely shut, slowly breathing under the blankets.

They are doing a good job here. Zack is being well-treated. Tom replied.

Oh, Zack… why did you have to be such a silly Strider? Nora muttered.

Let’s hope for a fast recovery. I hope Zack comes back home in time to see the tunnel’s completion. I said.

Well, let’s leave him then. We should not bother Zack while he’s recovering. Tom said.

You’re right. We should head back to the river and see what they are up to with the tunnel. I replied.

On our way out, we found one of the local physicians. We wanted to know more about Zack’s case. The doctor was walking down the corridor wearing his white coat and blue gloves.

Oh, excuse me doc! I said. Are you busy right now? We would like to ask you about our friend, Zack…

The Strider in room 406? Sure, I have a few minutes to spare. He replied.

Good. So uh, how is he doing? Could you tell us?

Zack’s recovery is good; I believe he might be discharged from the hospital in a few days. The doctor replied.

That’s great to hear, Nora said.

He isn’t feeling ill anymore, and the radioactive effect has worn off. However, radiation is a tricky thing. We must keep him under observation for a few more days to make sure he’s fully recovered from the unfortunate event. The doctor said.

Sounds great. We’ll be around when he’s released from hospital. I said. Thanks again for all the hard work, doc.

No problem, we are happy to help.

Zack was getting better, and his recovery was going great. It was a matter of time until he was released from the hospital.

    Day 2

We visited Zack today but he was sleeping again when we arrived. As we’re leaving the hospital, one of the nurses came to us in a hurry.

    Excuse me, Striders!

Yes, what is it? I replied.

Your friend Zack has woken up. You may speak with him. Would you like to do that? She asked.

Of course, thank you so much, nurse. Nora replied.

She took us back to Zack’s room where we found him awake.

What’s up, Striders? He asked from his bed.

There you are, Mr. Stubbor.! Tom said.

    Hey, watch it. Zack said.

How are you doing today, Zack? Nora asked him.

Well, I was doing great until you guys showed up… just kidding. Zack laughed. Thanks for visiting me, guys. I appreciate it. As a matter of fact, I am feeling good. I don’t have any of those radiation symptoms anymore.

What were they like? Nora wondered.

They were terrible; fever, nausea, a horrible tingling sensation in my feet, throwing up all the time, and barely having a good night of sleep. But they fixed me up real good. They injected me with some of those fancy human medicines, and now I am back. I am better again. Zack said.

See, Zack? Humans are not as bad as you say. I replied.

Maybe some of them are not bad, Morgan. You may be right about that. But those humans working in the tunnel, I don’t know about them.

Again, with this talk? Tom asked. You just went through a life-changing event and you are still talking about that? They literally saved you!

Yeah, yeah, they saved me. But I still don’t fully trust them. Zack said.

Zack, you kept telling me that the radioactive block was just a lie. That it was a made up story by some of the humans in order to put a permanent halt in the tunnel construction. The radiation proved you wrong. You should at least agree with that. I said.

"I know, I won’t play around with radiation again. I was wrong. The radioactive blocks are real, and they can be
