To my readers:

This book was written to inspire you with the courage to overcome the odds confronting you and our nation. I hope you’re listening. Survival is exhausting. You must become champions of your heart and mind to find the gold beneath the dust of your life. I pray you live victoriously!

I encourage you to read on even if you do not believe Christ is the Messiah as prophesied in the Old Testament. You may learn something.

Acknowledgments

Each season of life presented new encounters with angels, counselors, mentors, directors, and protectors. Though there are far too many to list, there are a few who have endured this race with me to bring me to and through one or many victories in my life. Even as I struggled for life on a few occasions and while raising a family (often alone), against all odds, I am a victor!

Most of my victories were against the odds, as a friend encouraged me to endure while I battled breast cancer. His words gave me courage and confidence that led me to a major victory at that time and his encouraging words continue to fuel me. Life seems to be a perpetual experience of battles against the odds for me. I am forever mindful that God always wins the war!

I have good reason to believe, and evidence to confirm, there are earthly angels. I have been blessed with angel relationships throughout my life. Angels appear at just the right time. Most have been human; one was my yellow Labrador retriever, Katie.

I have deep gratitude and love for all my angels, some known to me, some unknown for all the many blessings they’ve bestowed on me, though too many to mention. Their belief in my talents, skills, and ability encouraged me to fight the good fight at very hard times in my life, of which they knew nothing. We produced great work together that served others well, despite my life challenges. Only angels can make you believe in yourself and lift you up to victories unimaginable. They were all at the right place and right time on my career journey since the 80s. These people have continued on this path to help others improve their quality of life and I’m sure will do so long after I am gone. They know the difference between being richly blessed and having temporal wealth. Your contributions to my life were priceless! You know who you are. Cheers to all of you!

An organization of importance along the way: American Express!

I look back to question how I made it this far. What fueled my boldness and courage in 1982? What was the catalyst of the first quantum leap I took that made me brave enough to compete in a dog-eat-dog world for commission while sadly raising children alone? It was an American Express card! AMEX trusted me when I had nothing left to lose. Everything created together in marriage was gone. What remained was priceless; I had three children to feed and lead to maturity. I embarked on a new career while I worked on straight commission. My new beginning came with an AMEX credit card and a credit line based on a one-page plea to give me a chance to prove myself financially worthy. Managing money has always been my strong suit. I was taught as a child that you never spend more cash than you have.

I carried that lesson into my new financial world by never counting on a commission that wasn’t in the bank. AMEX and I have been partners since 1982. I learned that 800 is a lucky number that must be earned, for both college boards and credit scores. This is when you gain control of your destiny. Thank you for taking a chance on me, AMEX!

Also of importance: I ended my career journey at Virginia Farm Bureau Federation in 2022 with gratitude for the opportunity to serve Virginia’s farmers. We called it my needed retirement due to injuries from an accident in 2018. I call it my re-invention after fourteen years of fighting the good fight for farmers. America’s farmers are underappreciated, taken for granted, highly intelligent, hardworking, humble people who provide food, fiber, fuel, and forestry for us. They do not discriminate. They pray and place their trust in God. This organization prays together, salutes the American flag, and pledges allegiance at every corporate gathering and before every corporate meal. In a world of inappropriateness, they hold themselves highly accountable and are always appropriate. They are grounded, steadfast, and do not waver in their commitment to God, America, and each other.

I have gained and lost many times in my life since birth, to victoriously gain again. All this is due to God’s grace, my faith and acts of faithing, my financial credibility, and people who believed in my Christian heart and commitment to serve Christ. Among them are my beloved Jewish friends who have enriched my life as we shared our beliefs and support for one another. Though I am not Jewish, Israel has a sacred place in my heart. This is where the Old and the New Testaments come together for me to tell the greatest story ever told and to guide us forward into peace and prosperity. This living manual shows us how Christ-like behavior works for everyone, everywhere, Christian or not.

The road traveled on my life journey was enriched by those who agreed to disagree respectfully with open minds and hearts. Those who believe as I do are never swayed, just enriched by learning about, respecting, and understanding each other’s beliefs. Though we often disagreed, we accepted each other and moved forward in love and respect for one another.

Lastly, and importantly, authors of many books (especially the Bible) who emboldened and inspired me with words both past and present. I listened intensely and processed your words through the filters of my mind and heart. You have fearlessly moved me forward to accomplish a mission that was born in my heart as well as a calling to fuel others forward.
